GSG-5 coming. Also known as MP5 in .22LR

Why doesn't H&K just make a semi-automatic only version of their MP5 series?

They made a semi-auto version of all of their long guns. They were banned from importation in 1989 because they did not meet the re-defined "sporting" clause of the 1968 GCA. They then made sporterized versions of some of their firearms (thumbhole stocks) that were banned in 1998. They made a semi-auto pistol version of their MP5K subgun called the SP-89 which was discontinued from manufacture after the 1994 Semi-Automatic Assault Weapon Ban prohibitted its importation.

Obviously they just didn't bother with the weapons they designed since 1989.

Because you suck and they hate you!

Sorry I couldn't resist:evil:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=309767&highlight=suck+hate This thread was too good to let it:D

Actually the HK 94 was their civilian version and like the gentleman mentioned above they used to be imported. You can find them on places gunbroker.com but they are a bit pricey when you do find them.

that would be legal in the uk with a working suppressor :D
time to work a lot harder so I can afford some expensive toys
just see the look on the NRA officials at bisely if I rock up with one of those and
the m16 style .410

Heck, in .22lr it may be even MORE unreliable than the real MP5.. if that's actually possible.

Then again.. I guess all the malfunctions I've had with mp5s are because I'm not a "real operator".. and I suck , and HK hates me... hehe

Puts the "because you suck and we hate you" thing in a new light doesn't it?

Sure, HK may think we suck and they may hate us, but our legislators started it first.

That's really cool, especially around $500!

when I first saw it I thought, "cool, a .22 plinker that looks like an MP-5, it should be a fun toy for people with lots of money." But for only $500 bucks, hell, I can afford that. I would buy this instead of a 10-22. I bet it'll be popular.

Ok here is a few answers about the GSG 5 rifles

We expect to see them in mid to late Jan 2008
The price should remain stable @ $499.00
Sear packs will not work
There is one model coming in now but other versions in the future
Extra mags priced around $34 -$36 ish range
First mags coming will be 22 rounds, in the future 10's & 20's no ETA on those
We are now taking pre orders with a deposit & will be offering some sort of discount for forum members, IE free ship , discount on gun, extra mag etc ,this has yet to be determined.

Thank You

Yes, UK legal in its US format but the shorter versions would be section 5. With an integral, working silencer it would be just like any other .22, but a detachable silencer would require an additional entry on your FAC.

The Rhineland Arms R22 (an MP5-a-like .22) is already around in the UK, though the Ruger 10/22 still dominates the gallery rifle scene. German Sporting Gun's British distributor is Centra UK so they'll be coming through them I imagine.

I don't see why the NRA people at Bisley would have any problem with it, they have Walther G22s and AR15s in the armoury there for members to use and as long as it's legal and within the muzzle energy limits you can shoot it on their ranges.

If you're after a .410 AR15 the Safir T14 is being imported into the UK by that Russian military shop that brings in some of the Saigas, I forget the name.

Wow, great to see a dealer jump in on the bandwagon!!
Can you tell us if subsonic .22LR will cycle the action of the GSG-5?
I e-mailed Germany, but have yet to hear back.
Now I have to see what I can sell to get one of these babys! Just when the wife quits working to go back to grad school, I find a firearm I cannot live without!

may have to get one and see if a conversion to a centerfire pistol round is possible. one of those little buggers beefed up for a .45auto would be quite the little show stopper.

FYI for California gunners we can ship the rifle to CA with the mag un assembled and you can have you ffl install a mag block to make it compliant.

Well I guess if I were a Mall Ninja and felt the need for low cost practice for my REAL MP5 I would give a rats patootie. Otherwise, what can this do that a $200 10/22 can't? Besides for another $150 on that 10/22 I can pretty much guarantee I can outshoot that thing accuracy wise.

YAAAAAWN.

>> That's enough for me, er, my nephews. <<

And me.

Besides, it just looks fun and that's worth something.

Just heard back from the mfgr. They have not tested with subsonic ammo, so they have no clue if it will cycle. I e-mailed them back and told them to get on it! Us gun nuts in the States want it SBR with a supressor, and we need it to cycle Sub Sonics!

It probably makes me a huge geek (we knew that) but I'm probably buying one.
