Why doesn't H&K just make a semi-automatic only version of their MP5 series?

They made a semi-auto version of all of their long guns. They were banned from importation in 1989 because they did not meet the re-defined "sporting" clause of the 1968 GCA. They then made sporterized versions of some of their firearms (thumbhole stocks) that were banned in 1998. They made a semi-auto pistol version of their MP5K subgun called the SP-89 which was discontinued from manufacture after the 1994 Semi-Automatic Assault Weapon Ban prohibitted its importation.
Obviously they just didn't bother with the weapons they designed since 1989.
The distributors are saying no. It will not except the HK trigger pack or auto-sear.I wonder if a full auto HK trigger pack will work with it.
that would be legal in the uk with a working suppressor
time to work a lot harder so I can afford some expensive toys
