At the gun show today, several vendors had what looks like a dead ringer for the HK MP5K submachine gun, but in .22. I picked one up and it felt pretty hefty, so it is apparently mostly or all steel. They look like fun, if you have more money than sense. ;)

They are great guns and very well made.

And they are cheap to shoot which is what makes them very desirable. I would urge you to get it SBR'd so you can add a sliding butt stock. They are really fun economical firearms if you do a lot of high volume shooting.

SBR'd GSG-5 pic with SWR Spectre Suppressor is in the middle:

The GSG-5 feels like a toy, but OTOH I've had quite a bit of rangetime with an MP5, so I know what a real one (well, a sear gun) feels like.

But I do own a GSG-5 and think its a pretty cool plinker. It would be even cooler if I had the money for two tax stamps, a short bbl, and supressor.

EDIT: Nevermind, just noticed you were talking about the pistol, not the rifle. Really gotta read more carefully.

I have the GSG-5P not the PK, although I may get one. I paid under $500 OTD. It is lots of fun and because I enjoy shooting it so much I have often shot it in place of guns that are more expensive to feed. It like has paid for its self in ammo savings already and it is a blast.

I have shoot it more often and thus enjoy it more than other many other guns I own that I imagine you would deem more sensible. That alone means owning it makes a lot of sense to me. Also, I am always amused when people seem to think $500 is some great amount of money.

I'm considering getting either the GSG5 or GSG5K and converting it to a SBR, would I be better off taking a rifle and cutting the barrel down and threading it, or buying the pistol and adding the butt stock and threading the barrel?

Just personal preference?

The PK already comes with a threaded barrel so if you wanted to SBR it and add a silencer then that's the route I would go.

My local shop just got a three PK's in the other day, two of my buddies each bought one but I decided to pass on the third and just stick with my carbine version. The PK is very cool but after shooting the ones my friends bought I'm glad I passed on it. I suppose if you added a stock and forward pistol grip it would be a lot better, I just have no desire to SBR one. The first thing we all said after shooting the PK for the first time was "this gun needs a stock!" not just to make it look really cool but to make it more comfortable to shoot. It's a fun toy but for $500+ I'll stick with the full size GSG-5 carbine.

Ya, a 6 lb pistol is not the easiest thing in the world to shoot well. I wouldn't buy the pistol versions unless it was with the intention to SBR it personally. I would buy the pistol if my intent was to SBR it because one need only add a stock as opposed to having the work of cutting the barrel.

Hi I need help with my new gsg pk(maybe I should have started a new thread but I already did in the revolver area) My question#1 anyhow is this Does your cocking lever handle thing have a lot of play in its forward position? Sorry if I use wrong terms this is my first gun besides shooting rifles growing up.
