I am looking to get a wall safe that is gun and fire rated. I need it to be able to hold 4 handguns and some other stuff (ie, ammo, jewelry, papers, etc). Electronic lock is required. Lighting and dri-rod would be nice but not required. Quick access would be nice (ie holstered gun on door).

The closest thing I've found to what I'm looking for is the RifleLocker or Home Security Locker by Phoenix USA but they are not fire rated.

(this is a different company's website but I believe these are the Phoenix USA safes or they look identical to them).

Does anyone make such an animal? Do I have to sacrifice fire rating to go with a wall safe? Do I have to have a custom safe built and create a custom wall mount?

Thanks in advance for any help

You could buy one of those wall lockers and glue drywall in it for a fire lining.
That's all that is in a gunsafe. Yep folks, you are paying $300-500 more for the $30 worth of sheetrock in a "fire-lined" safe.

1/2" gypsum = 20 min fire wall
5/8" gypsum = 30 min fire wall

The effect is cumulative; 2 layers of 5/8" gypsum will give you a 1 hour wall.

Really? That's all that makes a safe fire rated? I thought some used ceramics and such? Going by that theory would all homes be fire rated? I mean isn't the entire house covered in sheetrock?

The sheetrock only provides a fire barrier as long as there are no holes in it. The walls of your house are essentially fire proof. Obviously residential fires are fires involving the contents of the house. However, if a fire occurs in your house, it "get's into" the walls and attic through openings and the wood frame and sheeting then burn.

Well that's a little disheartening to learn that that's all that fire proofing really entails in safes. But assuming I can't easily fit that much sheetrock into one of the aforementioned units (even if I was that handy, which I'm not, there isn't much space in these for the sheetrock), are there any wall safes pre-built that fit these needs? Does anyone actually sell fire-proof wall sales (gun rated or not)?
