I am looking for a good, moderate cost gun belt. I want one that is stiff enough to retain the holster well yet supple enough to feel comfortable. I am looking for a 1 ½†size. The two that I have found to date are the Rafter S Cowhide belt for $45 http://www.raftersgunleather.com/and the Hume Trouser belt for $40 http://www.pistol-gear.com/proddetail.php?prod=02XDL. What are your thoughts on these or any other belts in this approximate price range?

I have one RafterS, and have two more on the way. One is sharkskin and the other cowhide. I also bought my son and son-in-law sharkskin belts for Christmas.

I think they are great.

JerryM, how often do you carry with the Rafters belt? Daily?

I'm considering getting on too. I carry everyday and want to make sure it will hold up to that.

Thanks.

I swap off my leather gear - maybe I'm wasting my time.

I swap off my leather gear - maybe I'm wasting my time. It's certainly true with shoes that 2 pair swapped off will outlast 3 pair worn in succession each worn to destruction.

My experience has been otherwise identical gear in a couple of different colors is a good investment. My impression is that the more expensive, famous if you will, lasts a little longer as dress wear - depends on what dressy means to you.

I'm quite pleased with GunnersAlley for value.

armedcitizen,
I wear my rafter cowhide everyday and I carry everyday. No sign of wear yet. I carry a 9mm or a .45. It's a great product for the price.

I've been wearing my Rafter S belt every day for almost a year. I also carry a full-size (full-weight) 1911 every day. This includes some IWB, some OWB, always a magpouch, always a steel cellphhone clip, and sometimes (snowmobiling, snowplowing) it anchors my thigh holster, which is probably as hard as one can be on a belt. I am not dissatisfied in any way, but it is definitely starting to show its age. My wife got one at the same time, but she wears other belts, so hers is still nice and rigid.

About 7 months ago, I purchased a Brommeland IWB and magpouch, and couldnt' be happier, so last week I placed an order for one of Gary's belts. Double the cost, but hopefully double the belt. I also plan on getting an Alessi Bodyguard to take care of carry duties while engaged in my winter activities, so as to not beat up another belt with the thigh holster.
