Gun belt recommendations

I dropped the cash for a beltman a few years ago and I love it and definitely recommend them, you should buy one

with that said.....

Remember very few pants have 1.75 loops these days. A thick leather belt which won't roll is hard to get thru some 1.5" loops.

I wish so bad I could go back and not take the advise to get the standard 1.5" belt. I wear blue jeans and carhartts that will accept the bigger belts. I so wish I had got the wider one. "Very few" is an exaggeration as I don't own a pair of pants that wouldn't accept a 1.75" belt.
Well, I have a (yes one) pair of slacks that may have 1.5" loops.

The OP has probably found his belt by now but if not I highly recommend Armour Belts. It's owned by Mike Bissell, the nephew of Jerry Bissell. Mike worked with Jerry in his shop; when Jerry retired Mike set out on his own. I have three Armour belts and they're flat out fantastic. They're totally made to order; you choose the color of the leather, the thread color, the buckle, etc. The stitching is immaculate and the finish is superb.

And if there's anything better than the products it's the service. Mike even made mine with a custom hole pattern (I wanted more holes than he normally offers and with close spacing to accommodate IWB & OWB, changes in my weight, etc). The amazing thing is that even with my special requests he still turns 'em around in a just a few days!

A custom made, double-layer gunbelt from Armour starts at around $80. Heck, I paid $70 for an off-the-rack one layer BullhideBelt.com belt a ways back. Nothing wrong with the latter but Armour offers a lot nicer belt for not a lot more money.

I'll have to round up a picture of mine. I have 2 of his "Gun Belts" in 1.5" and one 1.5 inch "Dress Belts". They're both double-layer but the "Dress Belt" is just slightly thinner. It actually works a little better for me since my holsters have clips made for thinner belts.

I had a really nice belt custom made by a forum member here. I really liked it. The dog also really liked it.

So I needed a new belt ASAP. Didn't have time to order one. I noticed Gander was having a sale on all 5.11 stuff. I'm not a fan of 5.11, as I'm not big into the Tacticool thing. But they have a nice black double layer leather belt with a stiffiner in it for $50. I've had it for about a month now, and it's been great. We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far I love it.

Even as a maker I wish I had started with 1.75" gear. After making a 1.75" belt for a project I found I loved the added width/rigidity. Problem is all my current gear is for a 1.5" belt....

There are a literal ton of qualified belt makers. Find the one you like that fits into your budget and pull the trigger. I've been wearing this guy every day for about 3 years & any half competent makers' will hold up as well if not better. My only recommendation would be go with a brown belt. Black doesn't tend to age as gracefully.
