Gun belts

I made do with a workman's belt for 2 years. I bought it initially because it was quite stiff and I figured it would give me time to find a 'real' gun belt.

But I never found one I liked the look of. Not enough selection of buckles for me. The cheap belt was on its last legs when a friend suggested I look into the Ares Ranger. I liked what I read about the Ranger and I thought I might get away with it in business casual clothes. I heard that LaRue Tactical has them in stock so I ordered one there to avoid the 4 week wait and promptly got told they were on backorder for 2 weeks. 2 weeks later they still had no idea when the belts were coming in so I cancelled the order and got a Volund Gearworks Atlas Cobra belt. I got it a week after I placed the order.

I like the Volund belt. It is plenty stiff, but not as stiff as the Ranger. It's also thinner at the buckle because the design omits an unnecessary extra layer of belt there.

Until a mid-styled infinitely adjustable gun belt with a decent looking stainless steel buckle comes along, the Volund will do just fine.

I didn't want a gunbelt that just screamed GUNBELT!. So no black basketweave for me. I went with an Aker B21 a couple of years ago, and often carry a full-sized steel pistol, a spare mag and a Leatherman tool, and it has held up very well.
