A place to clean

Here are a couple of photos of my work area inside my shop. Note the a/c window unit and the electric wall heater. It sure makes it a lot more pleasant!

I clean my guns on my bed. Every once and a while I tip over my little bottle of CLP. Oh, well not any worse than a wet spot.

LOL!!

After the kids grew up, I claimed my son's old room and turned it into the "gun room". Probably ought to replace the carpet, but one good thing about the abuse it has taken -- one more stain will hardly be noticed. I suppose if it weren't for the great smell of Hoppe's, I could blame the dog . . .

I keep a big sheet of corrugated cardboard in the back of the closet to put down when I am cleaning. I have all of my supplies in a tackle box that has a slot in the front to hold a small bottle, So my powder solvent never comes out of the tackle box -- I just open the lid an dip the mop or swab I am using. I keep some oil in a syringe with a blunt needle -- perfect for putting a tiny drop of oil right where it is needed, and nothing to tip over and spill.

In our mountain place, in the mud room, next to the washer and dryer, there is a strange device I have never seen the wife use. It comes out of one of the drawers and unfolds into a long, narrow padded table about 4 or 5 ft. long, and kind of pointed on one end. I think they call it an "ironing board". I can throw an old towel over it, rest the rifle in the V of a gun rest bag, and it works great. If you need a portable gun cleaning table, you might be able to actually buy an ironing board at Wally World.
