Gun Control thread at Infiltration.

I like the part about fistfights in the street suddenly turning into shootouts.

I mean, how often do you see people physically fighting in public? When I go to the grocery store, I don't expect a melee in aisle 12. :rolleyes:
 
Anyone else notice that there are NO arguments against the guns? It's just people saying how scared they are of people with them.

I guess you could call some of it an actual argument...but, not a very good one.

To be fair, I'd have a hard time working up a decent case of "worried", let along "scared", about a gun that didn't have a person holding it. :D
 
From that absurd thread:

Agreed, I thought that was pretty good.
I've pretty much decided not to get into this too much, it's just not worth it. I get into enough of these stupid arguments with my friends that I hang out with (online, I have no friends irl. =(), I don't need to get into them with strangers.
 
That quote is about as good as it gets when one is looking for depth on a gamer board. I'd note that the protagonist is from Norway. Maybe he should look up someone who lived through the Nazi occupation. I am sure some pensioner could use some insulting of his intellect. :D

Not so much that we are too involved, but that we don't support thier issues. They also complain for the same reason a poor person will complain about the rich having too much money.

I wonder how many of these people think they know something about guns because they have used them on a video game. Or how many have never been in this country, but judge us based on movies and games made here.
 
It keeps getting better and better.
Being the makers and players of the most realistic FPS ever, you'd think they'd know that the biggest, heaviest, largest calibered gun doesn't equal superiority.

I assumed the same of the INF community... when I learned otherwise, I stopped playing.

It used to be my favorite online game.

One argument I have heard is "Well, if you know that there's a good chance that the other guy is packing, you don't want to mess with him". Which is true.

I knew a guy that killed his best friend when his intended victim stepped aside when he charged him.
 
I used to be one of the moderators over on that forum (back when Infiltration was still in heavy development ... they are moving the next version over to the Halflife 2 engine, so maybe the development hasn't completely stopped).

That forum is just so full of stupid eurotrash socialists that I've avoided getting in to any more gun control debates there (although some of you newer kids are doing pretty well).

Back in the good old days (pre v2.87) there was a Canadian named Gryphon who posted there (he was the "firearms consultant" for the Infiltration Development team) and he and I had fun tearing apart the silly antis :) .

Keep in mind that the Infiltration "Off Topic" forum is almost a completely different community then the other Infiltration forums (a large percentage of the InfOT forum posters don't even play Inf).
 
Yea, I DO remember the name, vaguely...

I played Inf waaaaaay back when the AT4 was first introduced, and I remember the forums from back then...and the off topic forums are just as stupid as the Firearms mod (for Half-Life) OT forums are.

But, for the moment, I just felt the need to release a little vitriol. :evil:
