Gun cost

Ok, can someone tell me where to find how much Americans spend each year on all gun related items? No matter if it's for hunting or range shooting, everything combined. I tried to Google this but nothing came up. Thanks.

I won't go into details, but for me it's been around $15,000, between rifles, handguns, reloading presses, gun range membership, reloading supplies, and ammo.

I highly doubt that such information exists. And if it does, I sincerely doubt that it would be accurate

Most folks will, in today's climate, ask why do you want to know?

for me around :

$800 on ammo
$500 on average for guns/gun supplys/trading in/selling/buying new

so overall roughly $1,300 / year

not the cheapest hobby but also about the same what I pay for my TV cable/internet bill with comcast over a year.... and the latter hobby protects my family and has tremendous value in a SHTF scenario...

I had seen in a gun magazine once that it was north of 4 Billion a year. And I wanted to estimate how much tax money comes in per year. In this economy, would the goverment really do away with that much tax revenue? Not to mention the number of people it would put out of work? I'm just doing research tp inform people.

I spend $1000 a month minimum on guns and related items, up to $2000 some months. Then again I'm single without kids.

It's a nice thought, but pretty much all of the consumer spending you are talking about is discretionary. It's not like people wouldn't spend their money elsewhere. The "gun money" would turn into "big tv money", "snowmobile money", "waterski boat money", and so on.

You're also operating under the assumption that it would all disappear. There are plenty of shooting sports and related activities that wouldn't be substantially touched by anything proposed so far.
