Gun Cuff - anybody use one?

I am trying to come up with an inexpensive safe storage solution. My guns are not particularly expensive, but I would hate fopr them to be stolen anyway.

I am working on a limited budget here, and while I would love to buy a safe, I just can't afford it. I have looked at the $80 storage locker at Gander Mountain, and it is a little larger than the available space in my closet.

I saw this locking rack called a Gun Cuff, and it seems like a good solution. I haven't found it at any local stores, only mail order, so I'm wondering if anyone has used it or at least seen it and can tell me how solid this thng really is.

Any other ideas on inexpensive security are welcome as well.

I don't like this type of solution. Since there's really no way to secure the rack to the wall really well (I'm familiar with typical wall construction, so you can't convince me otherwise), all it really does is group the guns in an easy to carry package for the bad guys.

I prefer the locker for inexpensive storage. Pony up some funds or you're going to just waste what you do spend on an inadequate solution.

What Techbrute said. Those gray collapsable lockers the gov't uses are pretty decent, esp if you spot weld the hinge pins.

You mentioned a closet? How about replacing the hollow-core door with a steel or solid wood door and putting a dead bolt or two on it?

Thye'd have to go through another wall to get to your weapons. Do-able, but time consuming.

Any locking solution oly buys you time...or deterrance from the more casual of theives.

Well, as far as attaching it to the wall I was thinking of four or five large carriage bolts all the way through the wall and a steel plate on the other side. (Behind the wall is another closet)

I have limited space as well as funds. Are there lockers smaller (shallower) than usual? The best would be if I could come find a locker that would hold a rifle flat parallel to the back wall. I've never seen one like that. Do they exist?

What do the "gray lockers government uses" look like? Got a link?

Oh, and my closet door is solid wood - it's an old house.

I've seen some pretty nice safes made from old refrigerators/freezers. Short of that the steel plate backing should work.
