Gun Dream

So I had this "gun" dream, that I was at some gun show/swap meet. This table had a bunch of handguns setup that caught my eye, I went over to take a look. The first gun I picked up was some smaller weird looking thing, had a rough casted frame on it, I asked how much, he said $25 . I asked him what kind of loads it shot, and he had to look it up because he didn't know. I think he said something like .360x18 haha. The next gun I picked up was a Browning 1911 , it was black with wood grips, kinda like the beretta 92 black finish. It had the Browning name printed on it. That was $580. I woke up after that, mustve been too excited. Why the hell doesnt Browning make a 1911 anyway?

That was my first thought, but you beat me to it.


IMHO we are reaching the saturation point of new 1911's, what more could someone offer? We will definitely know we're there once Glock comes out with a 1911.

Hey, competition is a good thing no? The new Taurus 1911 seems to be a hit, due to its many features and excellent price. Time will tell if it holds up to the early hype, but if more people start gravitating towards more "cost friendly" options, then other manufacturer's might have to follow suit...and that means cheaper guns for all!

I think STI's Spartan is a good example of this too. Who wouldn't want a reasonably priced gun from a great manufacturer like STI?

STI is a good company, no doubt about it, however since the Spartan frame and slide are manufactured by Armscor (another good company) in the Philippines and using STI internals, I think it's a bit of a stretch, at least for me, to think of this pistol in the same light as a wholly manufactured-by-STI pistol.

Browning is a marketing and distribution company. It has no facilities to manufacture firearms. The Browning High Power is, and has been, made by FN. Miroku of Japan manufactures many of the Browning rifles and shotguns.

I would think that at sometime, everyone will have their version of the 1911 and the powers that be at Browning might evolve into that decision. But for now, I will be very happy & content w/ my Practical BHP and my Colt XSE Gov't
