I recently purchased an old rifle stamped V COLLETTE thought it was a .22 rimfire. when i went to shoot it it appears to be a centerfire. a .22 rimfire bullet fits perfect in the chamber and the gun mechanically appears fine. does anyone have some info on this gun and what type of cartridge this might use. any help would be appreciated.

Pictures of your gun and any other markings would be a big help.

There was a gunmaker named Victor Collette in Liege in the mid 19th century. If your gun is of the era when he was active, it probably isn't a shooter with any sort of ammo.

Here is a link to a page showing a pistol he patented.
