Gun laws in Portugal

No I am not moving, but my friend lives there and I am trying to find out the gun laws in the country for him.

I am expecting the worst, but it could be a mediteranian Switzerland for all I know.

Based on my chats with friends in Pt, their gun laws are on par with places like New York City. People CAN get 'em legally, but not real easy and have to show cause.
