This is a great site. Thanks to all who contribute, I've become so much more informed by reading your posts.
Here's a question in lieu of the Demo's taking over.
I have a friend who has a cousin that has a neighbor who works with this guy who has a guy across the street that has some guns (;)
He's wanting to know how he can improve his gun collection in case something terrible happens. Here's what he has and please feel free to give advice as to what he may need to buy. He's wanting to be able to protect and defend his homestead.
1 - Mossburg 500 12 ga.
1 - Mossburg 500 12 ga. Defender
1 - SKS
2 - AK-47 762 X 39
1 - Ruger 22 LR.
1 - Kimber 45
1 - Tauruss 9MM
Thank you in advance for any help.

My cousin has a friend whose brother's son-in-law knows a guy that thinks that an AK variant would be a good choice.

Welcome to THR, new friend.:)

Something in .308, M14 or FAL (outside HK91), rail car full of mags and then, when he can, buy another one just like it.

I'd want an "anti-thing" weapon, .458 SOCOM upper, BAR in .338 WM, maybe a .50USMG single shot rifle.

Your friend should start taking classes too, general purpose rifle, urban rifle, ASAP. Look into night vision and a vest. Good luck.:)

My friend who has the cousin that has the neighbor who works with the guy who has a guy across the street that has some guns says Thank you and Merry Christmas:)

My buddys Grand-dad bought some 4" PVC pipe and caps, and some desicant beads, he burryed them in a sandy area, and GPS's the site. He crocked last spring and my buddy lost the GPS!
Some developer will probly find them sometime in the future.

I guess i wouldn't endorse that idea as i loose most of the easter eggs i hide.

Gbro

I'd tell your friend to relay through the long list of people, that a guy who knows a friend of mine has a neighbor that recommended an AR, even just a lower if that's all they can afford at present, with a reasonable stock of 20 or 30 round mags. This guy apparantly has multiple lowers, and uppers in .223, 6x45 for deer hunting, and .50 Beowulf for when something really needs thumpin'. He even sent me some pics, here's the thumpin' gun:

Optionally he mentioned the KT SU16 for less cash outlay but the ability to use AR Mags like this one:

I think he also mentioned hand guns with large capacity magazines. Things like the Witness Elite Match with 15 round .40S&W mags, and Springer XD's in various calibers with similar round capacity, and various others that may fit you better.

I would say he needs something that chambers the .223 round. Given the abundance found in the United States, it would be wise to have a firearm that chambers a commonly found indigenous round.

I would throw in a xd-9, and also you can never have enough 22semi's around.
also , I would think about a ruger 10/22, tune it with a trigger job , and internal parts kit, so it runs and runs. then about 8 hicap steelips mags loaded, just in case/ or if you can afford them , some tactical innovations, hi cap mags.
last but not least , a saiga with 16 in bbl, in 223. those babies really rock and roll.

Everything mentioned sounds great. I'd also recomend a reloader, dies and
all the stuff that goes with it. Personally, I like my mini-14 and plan on getting
a mini-30 to go with it. Think a .50 Beowulf is in order as another option for
my AR.

A large cal. wheel gun would be good to have also, .357 or .44 Mag.

Best.......Mike
