Gun listed on Armlist fishy message?

I should add that I created a separate email account just for use on Armslist and Craigslist. I had a guy go full roid rage over a $50 water heater I sold on CL a few years ago, and that caused me to decide I don't want to use my "real" email containing my real name with potentially crazy people.

If they seem OK after a couple of emails I will give them my phone number so they can call or text if they want, but for first contacts I don't want them having any personal info.

If you have a smartphone you can get a free texting app. That will give you a second phone number that they can text or call without them getting your real phone number. I started using one of those for all Craigslist deals a couple of years ago. I had a car audio amp that I sold on Craigslist and about a week later the guy starts calling me about 10 times a day saying that he wanted his money back. Their was nothing wrong with it, he just decided that he didn't want it.

S C A M!!!!!!!!
They do this for just about any buying or selling good. There is never any need or reason for them to send you MORE than the agreed upon price.

The best the you can do is report their contact info to the police, and cease any further communication with them.

In another note if anyone ever sends you a check, call the issuing bank and ask them if it's real. They will ask you for the account and routing number and they will tell you 100% if it's real or fake and if it is real probably if the funds would be available. The last part I am not positive on but it seems reasonable.

Armslist is the pits !

It's not worth the time, extra effort, or YOUR LIFE !

Maybe you're the ONE in ten thousand, but is it worth it ? !!!
Really, think about it .

What, is the ATF chasing them down? Your email/calls are far more pertinent. Plus, scammers often avoid out of state deals (not to mention this is armslist we're talking about) to avoid federal investigators getting on their tails.
After having sold several hundred guns online I think that I know a little about the subject. Not to mention having several of my guns listed on Armslist by God only who. That shoots your theory on out-of-state sales by scammers to pieces.
