I contacted FFL dealer, my wife have FB and she sent message to the guy. He said he already aware of that scam and reported to FBI and ATF, not first "buyer" get hand on his FFL copy.

Any Armslist deal involving shipping is a scam. Period.

Armslist is for face-to-face cash transactions only.

Any deviation from these guidelines will result in either a loss of money, gun or both.

If you want to ship guns sell them on GunBroker.

The "slightly different" address for the FFL doesn't make sense either.
Once or twice in my internet transactions, I have encountered a situation where an FFL had there address at an office location, but their retail and shipping address was slightly different, perhaps next door. I wish they would not do that, but it does happen.

I have always had problems with Armslist.
My computer acted strange as if cookies or other anomalies had occurred after merely accessing the site.
I never go there.

Armslist is the Craigslist of the gun world. I have had several of my high dollar guns land that I had listed on Gun Broker show up on Armslist for half price. I contacted one guy in Ohio faking a purchase of my 1873 Winchester and got his mailing address and phone number. Then sent it to the FBI Cyber Crimes Division. I hope they caught the slime.

Sounds like the OP is spot on about the scam. Even if the seller had a FFL, he could have gotten it easily.

BTW: It is really easy to google a dealer and get their contact info online and then contact them for confirmation..

Sometimes their mailing address is different than their premises address. The gun has to go to the premises.

This guy a kitchen table FFL working from his apartment, that why address is not the same.

Huh, I didn't realize Armslist still was around. I wrote it off years ago as a hive of scammers and a website full of spy/add/malware.

Glad you realized it was a scam.

I hadn't thought of the probability of this hitting Armslist, but it doesn't surprise me. I got similar messages the last two trucks I sold through CL. One came via text message. I already knew about the scam at the time, though.

One time i was selling a bolt action. 308 on armslist. I live in Alabama and I got a message from a guy in California. He said that he would pay $100 more than my asking price if I would ship the rifle to his home address and he would send a money order...

My response was not a NO but a HELL NO!!! Gotta be careful these days.

Who the heck uses a cashiers check in this day & age? That should tell you everything.

Certified check or money order is all that I will take. I know that it may be inconvenient for the buyer, but I don't have to wait for a personal check to clear and I don't have to wait on Paypal or pay credit card fees.

I have shipped one pistol I sold on armslist, but it was after a lengthy back and forth via email with the buyer to see if he was an "actual" person. All turned out well, shipped it from an FFL to his, he paid shipping.

Uhhh...cashiers?
...and con-men; cashier checks are notorious as scammers' tools since they are easily faked, only the fool who tries cashing it is on the hook when it bounces, and they process slow enough that the item gets shipped before the sting is revealed.

I can see that it would be easy to fake, but if this is done properly the gun should go to a licensed dealer complete with background check. Paper trail.

I’ve had some good luck with Arms list. Keep it local. Keep it cash. Look at the ID, CCW. Meet somewhere public.

Ditto. My advice: don't be in a hurry to sell when using Armslist. Plenty of weird and "just doesn't feel right" emails & calls. I have my requirements for a buyer listed in any add I run, & I don't deviate.

I should add that I created a separate email account just for use on Armslist and Craigslist. I had a guy go full roid rage over a $50 water heater I sold on CL a few years ago, and that caused me to decide I don't want to use my "real" email containing my real name with potentially crazy people.

If they seem OK after a couple of emails I will give them my phone number so they can call or text if they want, but for first contacts I don't want them having any personal info.

Well, that guy started very smart, he said he is interested in my gun, sent me legit FFL copy. Our first several email exchange was OK. I'm not using my personal email I have my old business email I keep for all my online activities. But after reciving email about him covering all shipping an extra money I got suspicions canceled deal and took add from Armlist.

What, is the ATF chasing them down? Your email/calls are far more pertinent. Plus, scammers often avoid out of state deals (not to mention this is armslist we're talking about) to avoid federal investigators getting on their tails.
