Right, like he willScam him back... just ask him to send cash.....
Once or twice in my internet transactions, I have encountered a situation where an FFL had there address at an office location, but their retail and shipping address was slightly different, perhaps next door. I wish they would not do that, but it does happen. The "slightly different" address for the FFL doesn't make sense either.
Sometimes their mailing address is different than their premises address. The gun has to go to the premises.Once or twice in my internet transactions, I have encountered a situation where an FFL had there address at an office location, but their retail and shipping address was slightly different, perhaps next door. Armslist is the Craigslist of the gun world.
Uhhh...cashiers?Who the heck uses a cashiers check in this day & age? That should tell you everything.
Certified check or money order is all that I will take. I know that it may be inconvenient for the buyer, but I don't have to wait for a personal check to clear and I don't have to wait on Paypal or pay credit card fees.Who the heck uses a cashiers check in this day & age? ...and con-men; cashier checks are notorious as scammers' tools since they are easily faked, only the fool who tries cashing it is on the hook when it bounces, and they process slow enough that the item gets shipped before the sting is revealed.Uhhh...cashiers?
I can see that it would be easy to fake, but if this is done properly the gun should go to a licensed dealer complete with background check. I’ve had some good luck with Arms list. Keep it local. Keep it cash. Look at the ID, CCW. Meet somewhere public.
I should add that I created a separate email account just for use on Armslist and Craigslist. I had a guy go full roid rage over a $50 water heater I sold on CL a few years ago, and that caused me to decide I don't want to use my "real" email containing my real name with potentially crazy people.
If they seem OK after a couple of emails I will give them my phone number so they can call or text if they want, but for first contacts I don't want them having any personal info.
What, is the ATF chasing them down? Your email/calls are far more pertinent. Plus, scammers often avoid out of state deals (not to mention this is armslist we're talking about) to avoid federal investigators getting on their tails.I can see that it would be easy to fake, but if this is done properly the gun should go to a licensed dealer complete with background check. Paper trail.
