So out of boredom today, I compiled a list of firearms that I own, want to buy, and will inherit.

I didn't realize how many firearms I really want, then I added up how much the ones on the "buy" list were worth off the top of my head. I figure I will need about $15,000 roughly to buy everything that is on that portion of the list.

Then another thing came to mind, if I did procure enough funds for these, plus the ones I own and will inherit, I need the proper amount of storage space for them. I totalled up approximately 50 guns! :what: When I get/build a house I wanted to designate a fireproof room for gun storage, so I think that would suffice.

I learned that in order for me to feed my addiction I had better stay in school and get an awesome job. I didn't even factor in reloading equipment and ammo to feed all my tools or FFL transfer fees.

This is all just stuff on the market right now, who knows what will be out there in several years. At least I know how high my goal is set for now.

Have you guys ever compiled a list of the guns you want? I feel this will help me keep track of what I want to buy and help prioritize my desires.

Oh and before I forget, "Hello, my name is Big_E and I am a gunaholic." Haha

Don't worry about the guns you own or plan onowning. You need to concentrate on how you are going to feed and care for them. You will soon find your guns own you as they demand a lot of attention.
I have spent most of today on mine. Had to rearrange the gun locker and still have four orphans I can't fit in there. Did a trigger job on a recently purchased Rem 788. Ah the joys of retirement - boy do you have a long road ahead of you.

I do have a long road ahead of me. Thank goodness I am still very young. I find it hard to remember and manage time to make sure my current collection is oiled while in storage. Heck, my darn college lifestyle prevents me from going shooting as often as I like.

Well, just have to keep saving those pennies and working hard. Eventually I will get most of what is on my list.

I agree with you. At least once a week I have the thought that my guns aren't oiled enough. I've already got too many guns but still have a very long list. I'm in college too and it has really hurt my important and relaxing shooting sessions. I have a range on my farm so I can just step out and shoot but now I only have time to shoot every couple weeks not as often as I used to.

My Winchester Model 94 got some cancer on it while I was in college.
Thought leaving it in one of those zip-up gun cases would protect it while I was away.

Did take the single-barrel 12-gauge with me to college.
Took m'lady out for a little "shootin'" one afternoon.
Had her shoot it with the THREE INCH MAGNUM shell.
She executed the task with aplomb, neigh indifference.

I married that woman.
Hard to believe that was more than three decades ago.

Still got the woman, and still got the shotgun.
Sentimental reasons, you know.

She thinks this one is the only one I have.

I have a list too--well, actually a spreadsheet. I don't know how much it would cost to buy all of them, but I wouldn't be surprised if the total were well over $100,000.

I'm in the starving student phase now as well, but fortunately I'll make good money once I'm done with my training (probably another 5 years). I'm planning to build a gun vault in my basement once I get some land to build a house.

I have a similar spreadsheet. I made it a blank file, so you can see what it looks like. I've removed certain things like encryption, links to pictures on my comp, and other features that were specific to me. Makes keeping track of everything MUCH easier...

P.S. Your list will only get bigger and more expensive...

Broke and busy college kids unite!

I'm glad I'm not the only one making detailed lists of all the guns I want along with their accessories and gear. Definitely going to need a dedicated gun vault room.

I own a .22 rifle, 7.62x39 carbine, 12 gauge, and .22 revolver. and enough ammo for all. oh ya my wife has a .22 pistol as well.

AWorthyOpponent - that is a dandy little tracking tool. thanks for uploading it. I keep track of mine on a spreadsheet as well but like yours much better.

In terms of growth of the "collection"...I've been buying since I was 17. I'm 42 now and a few guns a year certainly adds up. Even if I have sold a few here and there.

I get light headed at the tought of dropping $2500 on another safe  That's a couple more guns I can't get :what:

I want one of each battle rifle, carbine, and pistol used by every major power in WWII. I'm a little less than halfway there.

Then I want an example of an American battle rifle used in every conflict. I'm working my way back in time, as the further back you go, the more expensive the guns get.

I was fortunate to inherit many of these guns, and guns and shooting are pretty much my only discretionary expense. $15,000 might seem like alot, but when you spread the purchases out over many years, and don't spend your money on other frivolous things, like food, it really doesn't seem too bad.

I've got a list. It's actually pretty small, but I added in photos from the internet of each one, and paraphernalia I intend to go with each purchase. They're in the order I want to buy them in, but that changes a lot.

Right now there's 18 on the list.

No Problem. I'll leave it up for anyone you want to send the link to...It has little arrows at the top of each section. So, if you put "Pistol", "revolver", "rifle", etc... in the type section you can click the arrow and select only one. It will filter the results so you can see only the type of firearm you are looking for.

This is handy for those of us that have guns they forget about...

Also, you can password protect and encrypt the document by going to: File(window) > Prepare > Encrypt Document
