Which gun manufacturers are publicly owned? That is, which companies can I buy stock in through an exchange?

Ruger, S&W, CCI/Hercules

Ruger is publicly traded as is S&W, you can go to Yahoo Finance (RGR and SWB, respectively) and find the ticker symbol and get background information and performance charts. Alliant (ATK) includes powder such as Hercules and CCI. Good luck!

Along those lines, does anyone have a good explaination, either financial or otherwise, why these manufacturers are still operating in anti-gun states? CT has lost its share of companies, but Mass has S&W, NY Kimber (and others), IL Springfield, etc.

Because they're not run by Jim Barret.

Sorry. Flippant answer - I don't know the real one other than maybe it's due to something mundane like lifes fiscal realities and the costs associated with moving.
