I'm looking for a small gun mounted camera that I can add to the barrel of my deer rifle so I can attempt to record/tape my hunting.

I don't want to spend more then $150 if possible.

Does anyone know of anything like this?

And I obviously don't mean to attach it to the rifle purposely. It is an X-Bolt .30-06 bolt action, so I don't have rails and stuff to attach it too.

There are a couple of places that sell them but they are more than 150$ There is one called action cam 2 on amazon.com that is $62 that would be easy enough to attach! I know for some of my friends bought the video recorder glasses on Amazon for around $60 also. If you want to see the footage they put out watch us shoot some geese on youtube here is the link.

So he attached it to his head?

If it's not attached to his head I wonder if it could take the recoil of being attached to the rifle.

can't help you with <$150, but raytheon/elcan used to make a scope called the digital hunter, that was essentially like looking through a digital camera. it had an LCD in the back and a camera in front and you kinda look "through" it. had an electronically generated reticle (neat because you can program the any reticle you want on your PC and download it to the scope, so you could make it look like pac man if you wanted, or just put any hashes or marks for ranging or BDC/dope info or whatever, and you can change it whenever you wnat), and would take video of the actual shot. uses an SD card.

i looked at them and almost bought one about 4 years ago. it would be very cool for hunting and recording video of the hunt. the reason I passed was that i couldn't see mirage in it, which is a no-go for me.

You can mount the camera to your scope for cheap. All it takes is a scope ring, a camera/tripod screw, and a .22 Weaver mount with the camera-screw sized hole drilled in it.

The pictures demonstrate that it is fairly self-explanatory.

True...but as said earlier they make temporary rails that attach to sling swivels. You slap one of those on there and mount the camera to that.

O, ok.

So will it stand up to the recoil of a rifle?

+1 for post #8. I didn't cut down the .22 weaver scope rail (an extra from the 10/22's) and can mount two cameras, one fore and one aft....just need another camera to make that plan work!

/only down-side is that unless you key it in tight, the recoil will have your video-aim off after a round or two; flip side to this is I like it for rotation-ability, but it might not be everyone's cup-o-tea.

I don't see the mount that goes on the sling swivel.

Is it the Picatinny Rail mount for $27.99?

This is brilliant! I was thinking of the foam pad on barrel with zip ties (like one website shows you) or strapping to my head like a helmet cam (probably better) but this solves the problem.

Thank you for the info.

just to clarify... this guy has camera strapped to ?head? or someone besides the barrel of the gun. I was thinking of doing this. You need to make sure if you have on head that the camera is pointing where your target is (not as easy as it sounds... will have to test).

From my research (I have not bought or tested any of these products) when strapped to the barrel of a high recoil gun the battery or sd card can get knocked loose (the tachyonic seems to be able to withstand the recoil better)

If I was going to buy one, I would get the http://www.tachyoninc.com/ From the ones I have seen they are built better for shock proofing. Again, I have not bought or tested any of these. Just opinions from my research.

shock Proofing All Tachyon video cameras make use of patented shock proofing system that ensures your camera will not shut down and lose your video files, even in the most demanding of extreme activities.

I would have to buy better cards... Tachyon XC cameras require Class 6 or Class 10 memory cards.

I have done gun mounted cameras but I dont like how they mess with accuracy, and they do. I own a number of camera mounts, just got one yesterday. It does not mount to the gun but its much better IMO. Here is a link.

The other one I have that you might like is called the gun and bow camera mount. Its not bad but I still dont trust accuracy with gun mounted kits, especially if any contact with the barrel.
