Of the top 100 all-time donors (1990-2004) in U.S. politics, the NRA is #25. No other RKBA organization makes the list. No gun control organization makes the list.

Of the top 25 all time donors, only six lean Republican (#10, #11, #21-23, #25). The remainder lean Democrat or give equally to both parties.

Of the top ten all time donors, only one leans Republican (#10) and only one gives equally to both parties (#2 National Assn of Realtors). The remainder are rated as "Strongly" or "Solidly" Democrat.

Despite donations of $8 million in 2000 and $5.5 million in 2002, all RKBA groups have donated less than $1.3 million in the 2004 cycle so far. Unless this trend changes (say around September), this will be the least amount of RKBA money in any campaign since 1990.

The Democrats have received more money from RKBA groups in the 1990-2004 period, than they have from gun control groups. Despite receiving only 15% of RKBA money, the gun rights groups outspent the gun control groups by almost half a million dollars in donations to the Democratic party.

By contrast, Republicans received 6% of the gun control money from 1990-2004 and 0% in the last two election cycles (2000 and 2002).

1990-2004 contributions from gun control groups equal just a bit more money than RKBA groups have donated just in 2004.

In individual and PAC contributions, the NRA donated 97% of the money in the 2004 election cycle. GOA donated the remaining 3% (traditionally GOA spends the majority of its money on in-house lobbyists).
