I have a stack on gun safe that has a couple of holes in the back (it looks like for mounting) I have lag bolts in the bottom of the safe. Although the stack on site recommends using the Eva- Dry rechargable dehumidifiers, and not the dry rods, has anyone used a dry rod in a stack on, and has it worked okay?

EDIT: I just looked at the safe and there are 4 pre-drilled holes in the metal in the back. But the dry wall is still in tact. Can I drill through the drywall and insulation, or will that cause problems?

I have a Golden Rod in my safe that has been in there since the late 80s when I bought the safe. The safe is not in a climate controlled environment and have not had any problems with rust or condensation.

It depends on what is behind the safe inside the wall...if you are not sure, don't drill. Water pipes or electrical wiring would be bad news.

FWIW, my safe is not in a climate controlled area but have had no issues keeping the safe around 40% using nothing but a rechargeable canister of desiccant. It's easy, safe and economical.
