Ding ding ding. Those battery powered hand trucks like the Lectro are slick. One person can easily move a 1,000+ lb safe up or down a flight of stairs with one. They crawl up and down stairs with minimal effort on the part of the operator. If you're in a larger city you can probably rent one, or you can buy one for $3,500 and go into the safe moving business.
On the subject of safes, I use a Stack-On cabinet to store gun parts and project guns, and no matter where you put one all a thief has to do is pop the lock or pry open the door and they're in. It wouldn't be that difficult to do. Get a modular safe for the portability, or a full size safe and don't look back.
