Not trying to pry personal info, etc. but just wanted to gather some insight on THRers and the prevalence of gun safes

I've got a 3 cubic foot Sentry safe that I keep important documents and a few pistols in. I don't have a big one for the long guns yet.

I like having somewhere to lock them up when for example, the kid has her teen friends over, or we have a party and people bring toddlers, or we go on vacation. No burglar is going to haul away that monster.

Every time I get that much cash to spend.....I buy more firearms. Soon enough, I'll reach "critical mass", and need a safe.....but for now, I can get away with other methods.

Yep, I finally bought one last year, big enough to hold all my guns.
10 long guns and 9 handguns. Wasn't my idea, though, my wife
made me do it.;)

She heard about a couple of daytime break-ins in a neighborhood
near ours and got paranoid about her jewelry and her "cash stash",
so she started talking me up about buying a good gun safe, one big
enough for all my guns, and with enough room for a few of her most
valuable possessions. Hmmm.... I'm going to say no to that? Not
likely.:D

Now we both have peace-of-mind while we are at work.

I have a safe on the lower level of my home in an always-locked small room. The main entrance is the upper floor. Anyone wanting the safe will need four friends to drag it outside and up a 10-foor flight of uneven stone stairs.

I can't agree more.

Not only holds my guns, but is also a highly rated fire safe that has all my important documents and my wifes jewelry in it. That being said, there are still a couple of easily gotten to personal protection items well within reach.....and they go bang also.

"Don't have one. I keep my guns accessible and loaded. Hanging it wooden racks on the bedroom walls."

I am with DeepSouth on this one. I like to see them and I like them handy too. No kids around and live in a rural area. My wife has one rule on my guns, "they gotta look good" as they are part of the decor.

I have heard of one person that had his in a safe, the crooks wanted what he had, and so they just hit the house with a loader and tractor, wrapped a chain around the safe and pulled it through the wall.

If they want it they will find a way to get it.

I have 3, Mainly just to keep the non-pro bruglers from getting them.

well, I'll fess up to be the topic idiot.

I voted "No, but I ought to/plan to"

I have five guns. They add up to enough money to where I should have gotten a safe months ago in case of fire or break-in. However, I'm gonna get something when I pay off the plastic some time after next week. Better late than too late/never

I got one. Best buy I've made all of last year for peace of mind. I can lock up my guns when me and the wife are gone and at least know that it would take some serious/expert like effort to open this beast. Also got lots of heirlooms (gold and silver) and jewelry that any punk might want to smash and grab if they ever came into our home for quick cash.
I also keep a few loaded guns in handy places around the home loaded and ready for action. I ALWAYS sleep with a gun on my mattress holster. During the day, I lock it up in my safe though, since I'm not in bed.

28 long gun capacity but have shelves in it so only 14.

Keep a few other things in it, too, but the really important stuff is in a bank safety deposit box.

I have one in the Katrina closet along W/ the small valuables . It wouldn't stop a real, determined ,thief but a real, determined, thief isn't gonna waste his time in my neighborhood.
I would almost go so far as to say it's kind of irresponsible not to have one.

I have 3, and each one that I have bought keeps getting bigger...darn, I guess I will have to keep filling them up:D

I do like that walk in idea, I have an old M1 Grand military rack that would look cool with some rifles in it.

Just because a safe is rated for 28 guns dosent mean you can only fit that many in there...Think of it as a challenge
