So sad, but we are never to old to not follow the rules.

Man killed by
shotgun blast
A man died Wednesday after he accidentally shot himself in the chest while cleaning his shotgun, the Klamath County Sheriffs Office reported.
Joseph Lupi, 69, went to a detached garage at his home
on 503 Mathers St., West of Klamath Falls, to clean a 12*gauge shotgun 30 minutes before his wife and her friend heard the shot fired, said Sheriff Tim Evinger.
Shortly after 4 p.m., Lupi was found by the two women, dead, with one gun*shot through his chest. The women then called 911, Evinger said.
Investigators say there was no indication of suspi*cious circumstances. The case will be forwarded to a medical examiner for further investigation.

This is a sad story, and I in no way wish to make light of this tragedy.

But just how the hell do you shoot yourself in the chest while cleaning a gun? I can understand a hand or thigh or foot, but the chest? What kind of cleaning technique requires the muzzle to point at your chest?

Strikes me as really difficult to shoot oneself in the chest with a shotgun on purpose. How does one do it by accident. Most likely a sucicide.

Survey sez . . .

Suicide.

I'm not sure how you'd even set up the scene to make it look like an accident.

I'm REALLY not sure how you'd ACTUALLY have that as an accident. The chest??

+1 thexrayboy. I would imagine it's some work to do it intentially, never mind by accident.

Maybe he had it laying on a table swabbing out the bore and something snagged the trigger? Or it might have been an old worn out one and he dropped the buttstock on the floor? I just have never heard of someone shooting themselves in the chest before.

I have to agree with everyone else. We are not getting the whole story. I can't imagine how he did it "Accidently". I wish his family well though,no matter what the cause.

I'm not sure how you'd even set up the scene to make it look like an accident.

In these cases? I'd imagine it's simply that you set up your gun cleaning supplies on the table next to where you do it. Maybe even tell somebody you're going to clean your gun.

BTW, my vote is suicide as well.
