Gun and ammo sales have been thru the roof the last few months. Has anyone noticed more people at the range? Are you having to wait longer at your shooting facility? I personally haven't seen all these new gun owners shooting up thier expensive ammo. Traffic seems about the same as always where I shoot. Just curious. How's by you?

Nothing has changed at my gunclubs range. It is almost always empty. The only time it seems to see heavier use is the 2 weeks before hunting season.

I can't say that much has changed at the range I visit. During the week, it is almost always wide open, but on the weekend, there may be a waiting list. The shop itself however, can be busy anytime during the week and is always busy on the weekend.

here in jax, the ammo shortage has decreased range use
a few months ago, it was mostly 22 LR shooters
now that 22lr has dried up, those are gone too
but last vist, since a gun show was in town, there were a bit more but not as many as late last year

There was a slight uptick in range use back in late November lasting into early January. Now it's the same old regulars occasionally with a (grand)son or (grand)daughter, sometimes the spouse if she happens to shoot and is bored at home (her words usually). And at the range fewer shots are being taken--there is a constant 'eye on how much ammo is left' attitude.

I personally think its all on the decline, ammo is starting to be spotted more frequently and guns (ar-15s)are starting to come down in price.

I have definately noticed that range usage at my local range is up dramatically post Obomanation. Before then, I would typically have the place all to myself on a weekend. Not any more. Saturday monring was the first time I had the place to myself since November.

However, I do notice increased populatory of 22's.

The private club I belong to has 2,000 members, yet everytime I go there it's basically the same 10 guys. I think over 90 percent of the members just shoot one or twice a year to sight in their rifles before hunting season.

Usually on Sundays I can get right in to the indoor range I go to, maybe wait 3 or 4 minutes. But today I had to wait 30+ minutes, at 1:00 on a Sunday. This was partially due to the 10 or 12 Blonde, age 30 something women who were taking a shooting class. Not the usual crowd, these women all had expensive clothing and designer purses. Which supports my theory that more women are getting involved in firearms.

range use here has remained pretty regular despite the madness. i have noticed in recent weeks that gun and ammo sales have been decreasing- have even seen supplies loosen up a little. i dont really know if it is from credit maxed customers, people who are tired of the guns and ammo drama, or just because summer has come and we all got other things to do... maybe all three-

Lately when I go to my club I usually have the place to myself or at most, see 2 or 3 other shooters. Also see more folks shooting .22s than before "the great panic."

Have been told by club old timers that the numbers for the action pistol and bowling pin shoots are down.

Our range has a cap of 300 members and there is a substantial waiting list for membership. I find the range much busier than in the past and the most common gun now seems to be AR models.

Ours gets packed, usually on weekends, and it gets damn dangerous. I would say 50% are new shooters who have absolutely no clue on gun safety. We have 30 bays and every one gets filled. Membership has gone from 745 last Oct to 1251 since this month and that's not including the ones that are non-members. A year ago I enjoyed working the range with no more that 30 shooters at one time. Now I've turned into a "prick" because of the number of shooters I have to watch and my attitude deteriorates as the day goes on. The greatest fear I have now is someone getting shot because I was at the opposite side of the range.
