I'm working in Plano, Texas for a couple of weeks and I was wondering what some of the good gun shops are in this area. Thanks.

The best (IMO) is Gunmaster located just south of the intersection of Avenue K and Spring Creek. There number is 972-423-0121. If you are wanting a combo range and store, there is The Bullet Trap just north of Park and Avenue K. You can easily Google their web site.

Those are my favorites. Gunmaster is great for gun-related conversation and handling all sorts of different firearms; the Bullet Trap has a large rental case and shooting range (25 yard bays), if you want to get some stick time on different handguns or rifles.

I usually make the rounds on Friday afternoons - a couple of hours shooting in The Bullet Trap's rifle and pistol bays, and then an hour or so chewing the fat at Gunmaster.

I'd be more than happy to hook up for a mini-meet if you'd like the company.

Rbernie,
Thanks for the offer but I'm here with some other folks that are doing the driving. Hopefully I'll try to get there on Sunday if it is agreeable with the co-workers.

+1 for Bullet Trap. Their staff is wonderful, as is the atmosphere.

It's the first range i've ever been to that I see lots of women and children there.

Yep, both Gunmaster and Bullet Trap http://www.bullettrapinc.com/ are fun places. Good staff at both and the range is good at BT. If you're feeling adventurous, SPS Guns way down Beltline to the west near Josey Ln. is one of my haunts. Closed on Mondays, though. Small and crowded with a good inventory and Larry is always good for a story. The shop dog, Mocha, is the stuff of legend.

IF you have time and a guide who knows Dallas, Ray's Hardware and Sporting Goods is like making the Pilgrimage.

Yes, there's razor ribbon on top of the building for a reason. Trust me, try to go during bright daylight hours. The reward is in the destination, not the trip.

D-Ray's at Preston Rd. and Forest Ln. in Dallas is the abridged, condensed version. Kinda like reading a 5th grader's book report on War and Peace.

Don't forget about Bass Pro out near DFW Airport, Cabelas out nearTexas Motor SPeedway, and Cheaper Than Dirt's retail location in Ft. Worth. Of course, the 'native guide' admoinition still applies.

Regards,
Rabbit.
