If you purchase a gun from an internet dealer and it is transferred through your local Virginia dealer they should not be charging you sales tax. While I have heard of same states trying to force retailers to collect sales taxes for out of state transactions (also an issue with furniture), this is not the case in Virginia.
The biggest selection of guns for sale will be the Dulles Expo show. The dealers with the best selection and lowest prices on new handguns are Trader Jerry and Dark Sun.
You should not be paying the VA state sales tax on a transfer to the FFL. The only state I know of that forces FFL's to collect it is Washington State.
Order from Bud's and have the gun transferred through Northern Virginia Armament in Herndon or Virginia Arms in Manassas, depending on which is more convenient. Both of those dealers offer top-notch service.
