Gun signs. yes or no?

The thread about using reloads for self defense, got me to wandering. What about having signs or bumper stickers that read.
Gun onboard.
Protected by S&W.
Driver only carries $20 worth of ammo.
Keep honking, Im reloading.:D

Could this type of stuff be bad for someone? (That had to use their gun?):confused:
 
I would only place such a sticker on my car if I intended to follow every traffic rule to the letter. Since I regularly go the flow of traffic, and might be singled out for speeding, I do not. I have no desire to reveal the presence of a weapon to a police officer unless the circumstances demand it. Giving the officer an added reason to ask about weapons is not desireable.
 
Signs like that on a vehicle tell a thief how stupid you are.
Kinda like wearing a t-shirt with a pot leaf on it to court.
 
When I was a kid and drove a really crappy car with no guns in it(most of the time) I had bumper stickers.

Not anymore. It seems that my friends who have the gun stickers on their cars get the windows smashed and the vehicle looted of all valuables possibly in a search for guns.
 
I would advise against it. "If you are shouting 'here I am', don't be surprised when someone points to you and says, 'there you are'".... :scrutiny:
 
1. If armed, I believe its wise to maintain a low profile, and do nothing to draw attention.

2. You're not going to be watching your car all the time, are you? Gun bumper stickers may prompt some "anti" to vandalize your vehicle when your parked at the supermarket or elsewhere. Remember, "antis" are generally liberals, and liberals have little regard for other people's rights or property.

i dont have bumper stickers. although i have been wanting the one where its a white oval and black border that sais .223 or 5.56
 
No signs. Be invisible. It's tactical.

Besides, if you ever blast a BG, it could be used against you either civilly or ciminally.
 
The only stickers i have on my car are NRA emblems and US flags.....I was a bit apprehensive at first putting NRA stickers on knowing many NJ cops are anti-gun (as are many crazed soccer moms), but I decided i'd rather show my support for the constitution than mute my feelings out of fear.

I also think having NRA stickers on my car helps to dispel the belief that all gun owners (and NRA members) are dirty, inbred rednecks who drive rusted out pick-ups. Thats the perception here in liberal NJ, and i think us gun owners should show our support of gun rights, if only to scare the left into giving up their anti-gun stance.

Inbetween the humidity and proximity to the shore....a scratch or gash on anything painted will result in rust overnight. Another reason why antigun NJ blows.
 
For real security purposes, get a bunch of bumper stickers and window decals that say things like "Fraternal Order of Police" or "State Trooper's Association."

Even if you may not be a big fan of the police, having police related stickers will be much more of a deterrent to theives than just gun related stickers.

I've heard one police officer suggest this strategy to single women.

The officer even went so far as to suggest getting a plain black t-shirt in a man's size XXL with "Sheriff's Dept." or some other police-related slogan across the chest to hang in the back on the coat hanger.

Get a sticker about some police-related shooting competition and plaster that on your bumper, instead.

Bumper stickers of those sort on your car is as smart as having an American flag tatoo if you fly to the Middle East on a regular basis. The word for the day is “Shhhhhh.â€
 
If a shooting is justified, what does it matter if you have pro-gun bumper stickers or use reloads? If you feared for your life and stopped the threat will the District Attorney file charges because you had a bumper sticker? Maybe I am too naive.

I wouldn't say you're too naive. I sincerely doubt very many people pay very much attention to very many bumper stickers.

My cars sported them for years; unfortunately, they start to look shabby after a few weeks, and they're a pain to remove without scratchng modern plastic bumpers.
 
Might just be a regional thing, but I'll guarantee you if you parked the old truck with the S&W, Glock, and Pry my dead... bumper stickers next to a Volvo with a "Let Go, Let God" advertisement anywhere in South Phoenix, the truck is the victim!

Probably not.

Bad for you in that your vehicle may be targeted by thieves?

Yes.

By folks who wish to express their anti views via vandalism?

Yes.
 
Bumper stickers or at least too many, in my opinion are tacky (no, I'm not speaking of the adhesive). However that being said I have two decals on my rear window. One is the logo of the Alaska Peace Officers Association and the other is a Scottish battle flag.
 
Here in CA, you'd only be asking for vandalism.

Wise not to advertise.

yeah i know that's not for everyone but where I live currently ...it's not an issue and i think we need to voice ourselves and be heard anyway we can..too many soccer moms think they "have the facts on their side and we are the majority"
 
I saw one of the 'If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem 1800-*NRA's phone number*" bumper stickers at the local Giant one day. The letters 'NRA' had been cut out from the phone number with a knife (it was the only thing on the bumpersticker that identified it as an NRA sticker), and to this day I wonder if it was the car owner or a liberal that did it, as the cuts were kinda crappy and there was some adhesive left on the bumper.
