So...the gun store in my Neighbourhood (Vancouver, Canada) was just held up by a bunch of dudes with AK's. Not really sure of all the info yet since it just happened but..pretty crazy. Apparently they smashed display cases and took handguns and rifles.

Are gun store employees in Canada (or just in B.C., or in Vancouver) forbidden to carry firearms?

That's not to say that I'd want to put up a pistol against a rifle in the first place.

I hope that the RCMP catches up with them quickly.

But, I thought all semi auto detachable magazine rifles in Canada were extremely tightly controlled? Yeah right. So, with those socialists up there, this will be another step in completely disarming you guys?

I'll never forget the day I worked at gun shop called South Bay Armory and we were getting cased by a couple of no-good cats. Chris an ex-Army ranger was moving up the left counter with his P7M8 and Big Ron had is old SAA walking down the right. I had a Benelli Super 90 ready to lay it down the middle of the store. This cool-headed Filipino guy, Edwin, called them over to the register area and had a "little talk" before they made a move. They left post haste. One of the scariest days of my life.

My point is that until you are in that situation, you never know how it's going to go.

I got my Colt Python from a little one-man gun shop in California. About a year later I was shocked and saddened to read in the newspaper that robbers held him up, took him in the back room, knocked him over the head and tied him up. Not long after, the place was shuttered. He was lucky to be alive.

Really, no one should work in a robbery-prone business without at least two people on duty.

Most of the time trying to rob a gun shop is not a good career move. Used to have one just down the street from where I now live that had an individual walk in one day, tried to kick the owner's border collie (not a good move in itself), then announced as he displayed his pistol that this was a robbery. As fortune would have it, one of the city's finest was there with the fellow in his sights, the owner had the offender in the sights of his 12-guage, and the gunsmith in the back had him triangulated from the back room. Needless to say, the border collie was ready to perform an impromptu circumcision.

The shop is now gone, with a nail shop in its place.

I promise you, when the full write up and details of this come out, they will find a way to blame it on the US. Mark my words on that....:barf::barf:
