Gun Survey

The NBC affiliate here in St. Louis has a survey on thier webpage inquiring about gun ownership, please vote on it:

It is labeled "web pole", near the bottom of the opening page on the right hand side.

That was it? Why. I actually think they need to do a poll on have you ever used a gun for selfdefense. The answers could be: Yes, had to fire it. Yes, had to show it. No, but I have one. (and) No, I will never own a gun.

I think that would tell more of the story, than "Do you own a gun?"

Perhaps they're trying to determine what percentage of their reader base they are offending when the republish Assoiated Press liberally slanted articles.

From the results (far more than 50% owning or thought about owning) it looks like they'd be offending quite a few!

Well thanks for the link.But overall that survey was poorly constructed. Seriouly DO YOU OWN A GUN? whats teh point, freedom of information act can help you find out how many gun owners are in the country.

This is an interesting read if you have about 2 mins. Talks about the media and their polls on guns and gun control.

Found this info on Harris Polls.

Two in every five adults (39%) live in households where one or more guns are owned. One in every six (16%) live in households with a rifle and a shotgun and a pistol. These are the results of The Harris Poll of 1,014 adults surveyed by telephone between April 26 and May 5.

The proportion of all adults who live in households with rifles (29%), shotguns (29%) or pistols (23%) has not changed significantly since 1996. However, gun ownership – the number of people living in gun-owning households – was higher in 1973 (48%) and 1980 (48%) than it is today (39%).

The question is how we get the other 3 to OWN GUNS.

I'm sure that by now they've logged my IP address, cross-referenced that to ARIN's whois database, used that info to do an nslookup on my employer's dns server to find my userid, checked that against our LDAP directory to get my name, from there, found my home address on a public telephone directory, emailed all my personal information to Nancy Pelosi, who auto-forwarded it to the ATF, who are planning a raid on my house as I type this. I just hope they don't shoot my dogs where they get there.

All because I felt the need to help skew some lame-a$$ online poll about gun ownership.

It's getting to the point where people are wearing their victimization as a badge of honor...

Yes we are. I voted 3 more times. Once on each computer I have. I haven't tested yet to figure out if they limit voting by cookies or by IP tracking.

Either way, if I get really bored tonight, I'll break that poll wide open.
