Gun Toting Grandma Chases Burglars

Right on.
It seems like people, even anti's or fence sitters, are quick to applaud a granny for defending themselves or their property with a gun but scoff at people under 50 or 60 for the same. Maybe they expect us to fistfight the meth head burglar since we are more able bodied.

I thought it was a Woodsman, too. Not too delighted with the idea that she chased them.

But I'll bet it'll be a while before they do it again. I hope they lost two days of sleep over it, too.... and thought about it. :uhoh:

I wish my grandma was that awesome. Pretty cool reporter too, she seemed to not be completely fearful and demonize the pistol. I think the reporter was actually intrigued, as she kept inching closer to the gun to inspect it.

Nobody under 60 needs a gun. Turn 'em in kids! :neener:

Pretty cool reporter too

She gives lots of solid, pro-gun coverage. I can recall several times where she's covered a crime story where the victim fought back, and she appears to be absolutely on our side. She doesn't seem afraid of weapons - in fact, I suspect she has a carry permit.

Now, what mistakes did Granny make? I really think the best course of action would've been to drive away, if the car was still running. She had to leave her daughter and granddaughter in the car, access the pistol in the trunk, and give chase. Things could've turned out much differently if the suspects decided to escalate from burglary to armed robbery.

Wow, that's the least anti-gun coverage of a defensive firearm story I think I've ever seen on prime time news. In court she'd fry for chasing them in today's pro-criminal society, but the fact that she followed them sounds like it was what led to their arrest.

I personally think you should be able to chase them legally. I got a drug dealer arrested by following him after he was dealing on my front lawn while I was sitting in my living room. His buddy pulled a truck up onto my lawn. I was like, ***?! I don't live in a bad area, but nevertheless it happened literally in my front yard. So I went out and followed them trying to get plate numbers. My neighborhood is full of small children, and I wasn't about to let it turn into a bad neighborhood.

Long story short, most of them took off in cars going in different directions, but one guy tried to come at me, but then fled on foot down the street. I got him arrested and 3 of his friends who were in one of the vehicles. I decided to follow them after we had been noticing some shady types in our normally peaceful neighborhood before that. We're a pretty pro-active neighborhood and we look out for our own. I think that's the only reason our neighborhood is as safe as it is. After I did that, the shady folks stopped coming around. The police in my city are actually pretty good, but we basically police our own neighborhood, and a lot of us own firearms in case the SHTF. It works pretty well, actually. I'm all for pro-active measures against criminals. In this case, had those guys been aggressive, the police wouldn't have gotten there in time.
