Can someone help me with a gun's value...89 Browning Citori Lightening (serial end PN753). Invector Chokes, 28" bbls, and a couple of scratches

Also, is it steel ready

It ISN'T a Belgian Superposed, so that hurts right there; being an 89 means it is past the Salt Wood era - that's a good thing......around here the prices are higher than what most folks seem to see in their areas.......when you go to gunbroker, look at the CLOSED auctions, to see what guns actually sold for - that will give you a realistic expectation

If it's a 20 Gauge, I'll buy it for that.

If it's a 12, no thanks. But someone else will.:)

I am buying this gun and trying to figure if 850 is fair. It is a little older than I thought. I look at gun broker and see most, if not all citori's, with 28" bbls and NON-fixed chokes going for $1000 plus. I feel like 850 is a good price but am not confident b/c of its age. I'm just looking for some opinions as to whether I am getting a fair deal, a steal, or am I getting screwed? Thanks for any comments

A good deal in 90% or better shape. An average deal if lesser condition. I'd rather have a good Citori than a Belgian Superposed. I sold my Superposed collection off in the last 10 years and replaced them with Citoris. The New Beretta O/U (680 series) is comparable IMHO .

I wouldnt call it a deal, but you arent getting taken either. IF it were my money I'd feel better about $750-$800....Keep in mind you can get a NIB field grade Citori for $1200+/- if you put in the leg work.

If you can physically inspect it, look for wear - is the action loose? Is the top lever to the right of center? Is the forearm loose or rattling? Those would be no-go signs. An 89 Citori at 850 isn't a bad deal if it's in good condition. If this is a field gun, then, like most field guns, it was most likely carried a lot and shot a little; if it has no rust, and you want it, get it.
