Hello, I am a newbie here and I am looking for the proper thread to ask gun value questions. My father asked me to use the internet since he doesn't know how. Thanks

He asked me to check about these:

1902 Winchester 12 Gauge pump Model 1897

WWII 303 British Enfield, stamped on trigger housing is British Crown GR 191 SHT L.E. III

Colt Model 3 D repro Dragoon 44 Caliber Model # C-1170 Serial #22569 bought in 70s

Colt 36 caliber Navy serial # 18756 1976 repro

1970 lever action Model 30/30 (22 caliber rifle) OLD Winchester arms model # 9442 22 S-L-L.R.

Thanks in advance for any info

:) Howdy! Depends on many variables but specifically condition. Pics would be necessary if you don't know how to judge them! Sorry! :banghead: . If you're near a Borders/Barnes and Noble or a gun store- get a " Blue Book of Gun Values " and look them up.

I know this isn't the answer you wanted but values vary WIDELY based on condition and other variables.

Thx

Thanks...Yea..I'm an avid forum poster at treasure depot and we ask for photos there. Trouble is my Dad never saw a digital camera and he lives in NY. I haven't been to NY since 98! Hadn't had the $ or a chance. probably be a heap more til I do go. We'll see how many more reply and thenI'll look up the book on the web and that will be his Christmas gift.

"...WWII 303 British Enfield, stamped on trigger housing is British Crown GR 191 SHT L.E. III..." Can you see a number after the '191'. I'm guessing it's not W.W. II, but W.W. I. "SHT L.E. III" means Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III. AKA. SMLE. 'GR' means George Rex. Which one depends on that last number.
Post any and all markings on it. Especially the ones under the bolt handle. They matter for a relatively close evaluation. So does the headspace. Have it checked.
However, you need to post all the markings.

I will take a stab at it, but remember that there may be exceptions, like new in box guns or an authenticated letter from Buffalo Bill saying he used that 1897 shotgun.

An average 1897 pump will run around $600. Pigeon and Trap models can go double that, and an authentic Riot/Trench gun can bring 5 times that or more.

An average condition SMLE, in original configuration (not "sporterized") will bring around $150-200. Half that if cut down or modified.

The repro percussion guns in new or nearly so condition will bring around $200; in worn or well used condition, they are very hard to sell at any price.

An average 9422 will bring $300 or so. There are special editions that will bring more, but you didn't mention anything like that.

The prices mentioned would be retail, what someone would expect to pay for the guns. What a gun shop would buy them for is another story. For sale, consignment is usually a better deal if there is no immediate need to sell.
