Sell and Buy a lot on Gunbroker. Seller doesn't really need to contact you unless they have noticed you have not completed the transaction. Address, Phone numbers, email address are already available to the buyer and purchasing terms usually are also. I usually just have a money order in the mail a few days later.

Me, I definitely want to hear from the seller before I send them money. As a seller, I always send the buyer an email confirming the total and my address within a few hours.

"I don't understand why gunbroker started blocking the names of bidders..."

Good question. I have wondered about this myself. I'll e-mail GB and let you know what they say.

Just bought my first gun on the intranenet today, bought it from some shop in Tennessee on Gunbroker I will post pics and review when recieved.

I've bought and sold a lot on GB. The only problems I had were with deadbeat buyers that didn't pay. They all had either "NR" or low transaction counts. It was a big hassle to get my sales fee back.

I've sold a few hundred guns on gunbroker.com in the past few months.

After an auction closes, if I have more of the same thing I want to list again, it is a lot easier to just "re-list" the item than to upload all the pictures and enter/format all the text and do a "new" auction. It doesn't mean that I am trying to sell anything out from under the auction winners, it just means I will spend 3 seconds putting up an auction instead of 5 minutes. Do that for 10+ auctions and the time starts adding up.

Also, as others have said, all the contact information is provided to both the seller and the buyer when the auction closes. I usually send an e-mail detailing my office hours and further payment details, but I don't know if it is necessary. I've had auctions end and the phone ring with someone wanting to pay by credit card. I have also had auction end and the people want to have their buddy come and pick up the gun. I even had one guy (this was after giving him my office hours several times) supposedly come by in the middle of the night at I wasn't here and so I could just ship them to his house if I wanted to get paid for them.

Overall, 99% of the buyers have been great to deal with. The most frequent problem I have is people not understanding how dutch auctions work.

I have purchased most of my firearms off of Gunbroker and have had nothing but good experiences with it. I only purchase from sellers with a good amount of sales and good feedback. I have gone against that rule when purchasing magazines and such depending on how much money is involved.

It's important to ask any questions you have AFTER reading the entire description and needing clarification or some unanswered question. I always email a seller after the auction if a detailed e-mail has not been sent to me. Most sellers send a detailed message and it's appreciated.

I have 120+ won auctions on G/B and Auction Arms. Only one problem and the seller would not communicate with me. I waited for almost 2 months for a holster from a dealer with 1500 A+ feedbacks. The day after posting an F feedback I get an angry email and excuses. Two days later my holster arrives overnite post. Go figure - for a $12.00 Item! Everyone else has been more than accomadating.

In this thread? I read through the entire thing again and must have missed it for the second time.

Would someone be kind enough to point out? I must be blind.

Here is the answer as to why GB blocks the names of bidders

Here is their response to me:

"In order to protect bidders from an internet selling scam, we have started masking bidder names within our auctions. Sellers will still be able to see the Bidders full user name and feedback. Bidders will still be able to see their names on their bids.
We have done this to protect our customers. We appreciate your understanding while we do what is needed to protect you from the scammers that are out there."

Hmm, interesting. Thank you for replying with that.

I wonder how that scam went, since you cannot contact the bidders unless they themselves have something for sale.
