Today I picked up another interesting magazine. It was Guns and Ammo's second special edition on the AK-47 rifle. It contained some interesting articles namely one on the PSL and the Iraqi Tabuk designated marksman rifles and the use of an AK derivative by a Michigan based private investigator as a 'trunk gun' in the event of the need for greater fire power. I also found the article on the spetsnaz to be quite interesting as well especially after I finished reading both Victor Suvorov's book on the subject (published in the late 1980s) and Terror at Beslan written by John Giduck.

I was wondering if anyone has picked up this second AK based magazine and read it yet...

I found mine in the rack at a grocery store chain called Krogers here in Ohio. Supposedly they can also be found at Walmart. Failing that try a book store with a good magazine selection.

I have both volumes and they are pretty good. If you are into Kalashnikov's you really need to get the late Edward Ezell's book on them as well as AK47 the Grim Reaper by Frank Iannamico. A little expensive but if you don't mind spending $9 on a magazine I think you will find these hardcover books, which will run over $50 each an excellent addition to your library.

I have that issue also. Since getting that I have been on a mission though. It says that I.O. Inc is coming with a 22lr AK. I.O. also shows it in their 2010 catalog but I have yet to find any info anywhere on this model..

Borders had it too. Very pleasantly surprised (first gun rag). Interesting articles, practical information. Definitely worth the $9. Shame though most import car mags have only half the content of this. (Thank goodness for Grassroots Motorsports though).

Good to hear that people are finding the issues and enjoying them. Not to say I don't have an appreciation for the AR series of rifle and what it brings to the table but I'm one of those guys who sees the merits of both the AK and AR type rifles.

The article on the Czech Cz series of AK derivatives was quite interesting.

It's sitting beside the laptop as I write this. Go it from Publix.

Great read. I already implemented one of the ideas for a trunk gun using a tennis racket case for either my AMD 65 or Sig556, and both fit just right. I had been thinking about putting a couple of rifles in an old, nondescript guitar case anyway before I read the article.

The Spetznaz perspective was interesting.

Is there an equivalent edition for M16/AR15 and other rifles?

I picked it up at the Border's in Franklin Park Mall in Toledo, OH and read it on my flight back to SA. Quite a few interesting articles and worth the premium price.

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. I liked most of the articles. The piece on Soviet Speznaz ops in Afghanistan was especially interesting. I Also liked the article by that Suarez fellow that runs those AK tactical training courses here in the US. Just as the SKS became a major force among American gun owners in the 90's, the AK is coming into its own as an important civilian weapon here in the 2000's.
