A friend of mine was curious and I had no idea. Are there any modern guns which are made entirely or mostly out of metal? M16? I brought up the Grease Guns and WWII weapons, but he said modern. Hand guns didn't matter. ANyone know?
 
I suppose it depends on the definition of "modern." The Browning Hi-power and 1911 pistols are usually all metal (except the grips, or sometimes other parts, like in the Colt 1991a1). The M2 .50cal machinegun is an old design, but still in use, so I'd call that modern.

Are you counting the furniture as well? I guess any shotgun could qualify if you gave it a metal stock? :confused:

(Ajax makes pewter grips for the 1911, I think)
 
Even though handguns dont matter ...

Kahr K, MK and T series and Rohrbaugh are a couple off the top of my head.


As for rifles, there are no 100% metal guns (if you count parts like grips, stocks, mags and other accessories).

But there's several HK rifles (G3s, MP5s, PSG-1) Sig 550 (and variants), FN M249 SAW, Barrett .50BMG rifles, French FAMAS, British SA-80, and I'd still consider the M4 a modern rifle.
 
Do you mean STEEL as "Metal" or do alloys count?

All metal guns, Sigs, CZ, Rugers, HK P7s, Colts, Springfields...
Hell Son, it's easier to name who is using plastic to make a handgun. And even then there is plenty of metal inside.

The Firearms International Broncos were all metal.
A single-shot .22 rifle, singlle-shot .410 shotgun and a .22/.410 combo gun were made back in the late 1960s.

Some are still around. I have a .22 rifle and a .410 shotgun. Lots of fun and good to train kids with.

IIRC, that one has a polymer frame. There is, however, an SMG called the Spectre that may indeed be all metal.

I doubt that anyone has made a rifle that is all metal, including old designs. The Garand, M14, 1903, Enfield, etc. all have wooden furniture. An all metal rifle would be kinda dumb because it'd be too heavy. (With the exception of the aforementioned Scout.)
 
I have seen alot of silver grips....

for a 1911 in the gift tourist traps in Cancun. They have a gold, so they say, coin where the logo usually goes. They sure are pretty.....chris3
 
First one I noticed - --

- -Other than the Liberator, was a variant of the Walther P38 called by some "The Gray Ghost." Dunno if very late WW-II German production or produced later by someone else (France? USSR?) with captured German machinery. Anyway, I've seen a few at gun shows. These examples had stamped metal stocks of the typical P38 pattern, and the whole was phosphate (Parkerized?) finished. Gray color, appearling out of the ashes of the Third Reich - -"Gray Ghost" seemed an appropriate nickmane.

All the above is word of mouth--Never researched it myself. Surely someone has written it up for the Walther collectors.

yes mine:) I liked it but it did have some small problems so I sent it back to Alchemy for a complete update:) Been there for 8 months. Should be back in my paws real soon:)
