Consider the source. Anything he can do to distract from his numerous failures in office is good news for his PR camp.
 
Thanks for posting this information --- as I've lived almost my whole life in the Chicago area -- this is no surprise to me.

BUT , now at least I get to send him a email telling him what a asshat he is.
 
Glad I found this thread before I started a duplicate. Why in the world does the Mayor of Chicago have anything to say about this? I can't think of any (active duty) bases anywhere near Chicago. The only AF base I can think of in Illinois is Scott. And Daley is the mayor of a city - he has less than squat to do with the military.

I'm pretty sure Great Lakes NTC has active military on it :)
 
The anti-gun media is going to have trouble milking much anti-gun fervor out of this one. People expect soldiers to have guns. We have been told for years that:

"Only the police and military should have guns."

This guy was a major, an authority figure in the minds of most, who was wearing the official uniform of the armed forces of the federal government when he committed the act. He was on a military base supposedly under control of the Army.

The ultimate irony is the Fort Hood has more stringent gun control than the festering dungheap called chicago.

There is an old saying that you get the government that you deserve. This is certainly true for chicago.

One last shot, mayor daly likes to claim that he was a mentor for obama.
 
he's probably doing a slight of hand. get everyone thinking about gun legislation, and they'll get socialized health care passed while our backs are turned. Just thinking out loud. I like larry the cable guys' quote: If guns kill people, I can blame my misspellings on my pencil.
