I recently ran across the two new trailers, and they are unreasonably sweet. Figured at least some people here would be interested in unreasonable sweetness. It has guns in it (and by far the most realistic and stylish gun handling I've ever seen in a game), so, uh, yeah. Close enough.

This one doesn't have (many) guns in it, and is strictly for fans, but is wonderful:

That is all.

It stinks that most of the MGS games are only for the playstation series. I despise Sony playstation ever since I got the original version:mad: :fire: :cuss: . I believe that they should include a way to save your progress with the console.

I'm now a hardcore Xbox guy. Go Master Chief:cool: !

After reading the title I was hoping for a Long Rifle, Brown Bess, Saber, and Tomahawk. :) Alas gamers like the more modern firearms.

I've got it worse. I only play games on my computer, which leaves me with a port of the first game and a miserably incompetent port of the xbox port of the second game. Who knows when Subsistence'll get to the pc.

Up until recently, I just made a thing out of enjoying the trailers a lot and never having played the games.

I used to only be able to play games on my PC. Try finding the "Thief" series on the computer. For $20 at GameStop you can get the first 2 "thief" games.

Then Xbox arrived. I had to wait until the price went down to $180 before I could afford it but it was worth it all.

Okay, honestly, who else wants the fancy camo furniture and vertical handguard now

My first console system was an Atari 2600 way back in the Dark Ages, and that is where I was introduced to my main man Mario.

Then came the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1989 or so. A few years later, it was the 16-bit (wow!) Super Nintendo.

But then I got a computer, and that dominated my gaming for quite awhile. I bought a Nintendo Gamecube a few years ago, but PC gaming is still my bread & butter.

As such, I've never played the Metal Gear Solid games. Third person shooters never especially interested me, and I don't know much about the plot.

I have to say, though, that they went all out on these trailers for E3. (If anyone is wondering, E3, the Electronics Entertainment Expo, is the gaming equivalent of SHOT Show.)

One thing though? I guess in Japan mullets are still considered macho and cool. Solid Snake has always looked like MacGuyver to me. Well, with a mustache, he looks like...um...well, if he was less buff, he'd look like an art teacher.

And these things always sound so funny in Japanese. For some reason, the Japanese voice acting just seems like it doesn't work to me. Probably because I don't understand the language, but the voice actresses they get for the female characters always sound like squeeky 13 year old girls.

They strive for realism. In a game where your armament consists of a tomahawk and a Brown Bess, your character dies of disease before he can get a shot off. :neener: :D

"Metal Gear?!"

"I am like you, I have no name."

"Snake. We're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in."

"Unfortunately, killing is one of those things that gets easier every time you do it."

"A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal."

"Listen. There's not a soldier alive that doesn't question himself. And if there is one, he's nothing more than a murderer."

"The path you walk on has no end. Each step you take is paved with the corpses of your enemies. Their souls will haunt you forever. You shall have no peace. Hear me, Snake; my spirit will be watching you."

"People call mercenaries like us "Dogs of War." But you're different. You are a Wolf... You will die the proud wolf you are."

"A strong man doesn't need to read the future, he makes his own."

"You mustn't allow yourself to be chained to fate, to be ruled by your genes. Human beings can choose the kind of life that they want to live. What's important is that you choose life... and then live."

"Didn't you know that cigarettes contain benzopyrene, a chemical that leads to lung cancer? We now know that when benzopyrene enters the body, it changes to benzopyrene diolepoxide and attaches to the receptors on the P53 gene, the gene which causes lung cancer. The BPDE attaches to the P53 gene in three specific locations and causes pre-cancerous changes to the lung tissue."..."You know a lot about science, but you don't know how good a cigarette tastes in the morning."

"Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon."

I'm going to have to disagree with this pretty strongly. The Japanese voice actors are far, far more talented. My Japanese is extremely limited, but I know good acting when I hear it. The American cast, with maybe two exceptions, is extremely terrible. And just from those two trailers, both Meryl and Naomi have respectively deep and mature voices. Hardly squeeky 13 year olds. Dubbing is wrong, regardless of the language or the medium. No one ever argued over dubbing Bresson.

I don't know about the mullet. I hate to say it, but I've come to almost like it in a way. I do not defend this, but it is definitely not a MacGuyver/80s mullet, judging by the pictures I've seen.
