Not financially, but literally...

Nearly a year ago I discovered that my credit card company offered a service with which they would create a card for you with a picture or design you make on it. Just for 'gits & shiggles' I submitted one of my then better gun pictures to see if they might put it on a card for me. I figured they wouldn't, if for nothing else than the nature of the photo. Especially since they had some rather strict rules about what they'd accept and decline.

Anyway, I submitted a photo and never received any response. They said they would e-mail me if the photo was declined and I figured if they accepted it, I'd get a new card with my picture on it shortly thereafter. Neither happened. I figured my submission got 'swept under the rug' or lost in space, and when I didn't get a response I just let it go and never thought about it again.

My card was set to expire this month and I received the new one in the mail today. I'd been expecting it and was actually getting a bit concerned that I hadn't gotten a replacement, but I wasn't expecting to get a card with a photo of my CCW piece on it. :eek:

Now, I figured you folks would get a kick out of this, so I've attached a photo of the card to the post. Just so y'all know I've done a quick Photoshop job on it to remove the particulars, so there are some spots that may look blemished, but it's just where I've edited my name and account number out. The picture on the card itself is flawless. And I left one of the card number digits in place so you can get a feel for the look/placement of them.

;)

All in all, I really like the card, but I kind of wish that it had one of my more recent and better quality photos on it. This one is still fairly nice, though. It's rather simple, and looks quite good on the card, I think.

The card, by the way, is the NRA Visa card offered through First National Bank of Omaha.

So with that, here it is...

That is rather nifty. Just think of the fun you can have with that card. You can always hand that over and jovially say, " This is a stick up hand over the merchandise".

Ok, I'll be the first to say it: "What's that ugly thing on the card that sorta' resembles a gun???"

:neener: Just kidding; I don't have anything against Glocks.......

That IS a great picture!

You did a good job editing out the personal information on that card in the photo. A really, really good job.

Guidelines:
Guidelines for Use of Color Images (Photos) on Credit Cards

XXXXXXXXXX reserves the exclusive right to determine whether to use any submitted image.

Below are some, but not all, examples of prohibited items in the foreground or background of photos:

* Celebrities, musicians, athletes, entertainers, cartoons or other nationally know public figures, etc. (Exceptions to this prohibition include permission-based photos of you, your family members or friends photographed with a famous person.)
* Images or names of branded products/services, including abbreviations, acronyms, logos or other related symbols.
* Provocative or sexual subject matter. This includes nudity (either artistic or pornographic in nature).
* Copyrighted or trademarked material.
* Political statements or subject matter.
* Racial/prejudicial or discriminatory subject matter.
* Violence.
* Profanity or Obscenities.
* Advertisements (e.g., personal business cards, etc.).
* Phone numbers (e.g. 800 or 900 #'s), E-Mail addresses, and Web addresses (e.g. www.xyz.com).
* References to the Olympic Games or events.

Please note: If an image submitted contains nudity (either artistic or pornographic) and/or is offensive in nature, or if you repeatedly submit images that are unacceptable, we reserve the right to exclude you from future use of this service.

You are lucky it got approved, I would figure they would have rejected it because they would have said it violated the *Violence* prohibition.

Awesome stuff. I'm applying for a card soon, I wonder if they'll get that service done for me?

Great pic, I can only wonder the look on people's faces when they see it :eek:

I would have figured they'd reject it for the Glock logo on the slide:
Images or names of branded products/services, including abbreviations, acronyms, logos or other related symbols.

Very cool.

At first I thought you meant this:

Pocket-Sized Shotgun Hits Stores

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 6, 2004

(AP) In a new twist on the idea of concealed weapons, a local gun maker and gun shop are debuting a new type of firearm: one that could almost fit in your wallet.

It's a two-shot weapon made from a piece of metal the height and width of a standard credit card, and about a half an inch thick. Each barrel fires seven standard steel BBs. It will retail for $100.

"This I can see being the ultimate self-defense weapon," said Mark Koscielski, owner of Koscielski's Guns and Ammo, the only gun shop in Minneapolis.

Koscielski and Patrick Teel, who makes the guns in suburban Blaine at his company AFT Incorporated, gave The Associated Press a preview on Tuesday, a day before they planned to officially unveil the device.

They said the guns are meant to be used for close-range self-defense and wouldn't be effective as offensive weapons.

"They are very effective at five to 10 feet. They're absolutely useless at 20 feet," Teel said.

The credit card-sized shotgun is a muzzleloader, meaning it doesn't use shotgun shells. The user has to measure out some gunpowder, pour it in each barrel, drop seven BBs in each barrel, and tamp in a small wad of paper. A knob on one end serves as a safety, and two buttons set into a hole in the body are the electrical triggers. Each barrel fires with a loud pop.

...

(I know Mark -- he's a good nice guy, but it's a very silly device)

The image says down for maintenence :(

but yeah, there were quite a few reasons for them to decline your picture. They could of said it portrays violence, or the GLOCK logo... but they actually did it! im as surprised as you are.

very nice! ;D

You ought to link to the bank. I'm sure more than a few here would probably love a credit card with a pic of their favorite bank and would be more than happy to reward this bank for not falling to the all too common PC of today.

I've been real happy with the service from First Omaha since they took over from whoever ran the NRA card previously.

If you call, people from, like, Nebraska actually answer. They're certainly not hoplophobes: the statements show up with "NRA" prominently displayed. Prominently enough that my wife tossed the first two statements thinking they were solicitations :eek:

And First Omaha doesn't spam you constantly like CapOne is wont to do. Best customer service of any CC bank I've had - you don't need customer service often but when you do, it's generally memorable.

Regrettably, mine has the generic NRA Eagle on the front. It still gets me "attaboys" at the range.
