I think the problem is this. The people that have been elected, and occupy a seat in the Senate and House, are sitting on their hands...with their brains in neutral.

Unless those elected Senators and House Representatives members decide that BATFE is not going to start this ammo ban...then it will happen.

The President is all for this and it is going to be forced on us because there are not enough people willing to "call him for what he is". No one is standing up for us. They are all willing to gut the constitution...as long as they can keep making their millions.

We can write all the letters we want. Make all the phone calls we want. Once they decide to do something...nothing changes it.

Thats just the way it looks to me.

Looks like you have it sorted out. Not one Republican is worried they won't get the gun vote come next election. No incentive to do anything. If anything a ban works in their favor. They can run on it next cycle. And then do nothing then too.

Instead of blaming the Republicans in congress why don't you blame the gun owners who vote Democrat, because lets face it without a Democrat in the white house or a few less in the house and senate we would not be in this mess.

Please explain how the ATF banned barrels from parts kits in 2005? Dems controlled nothing. If you're going to blame Obama here(and you're right to blame him) you have to blame Republicans in 05.

Really? You're going to vote Democrat if this goes through? For some reason I doubt that. Ah...the joys of the two-party system - don't forget, it's only one more party than China's "one-party system". I don't see anyone trying to change that either.

I'll be voting 3rd party. And it has nothing to do with this issue. Unless the Rs somehow become small .gov pro Constitution in the next year. Those chances seem limited.

I voted third party once (jug ears) and wound up with slick willie and a Asalt weapon ban. Never again.

Tell us all the good stuff that's happened because you voted for the R? Patriot Act? Trillions of debt? TARP? 89 import ban? MG ban? The AWB was bad but it's a footnote in history now.

Two errors I see made all the time about M855.

1. The ban is not new, nor is it proposed. It has been on the books since 1985/86. M855 has been exempted because of arbitrary "sporting purposes". It is the lifting of this exemption that is at question.

2. The present administration is not introducing this as a new bill. This ban originated in 1985/86 when Ronald Reagan was President and Republicans had control of the Senate. All the present administration is proposing is to enforce the original concept of the LEOPA of 1986.

IOWs, folks should have been screaming about this ban for the last 30 years. But because of the arbitrary exemption, since the ban did not affect them, they said nuttin'. Now it affects a few of them, and one particular type of ammo and now, at the last moment.......they are screaming.

Just another case of apathetic gun owners only being concerned when it's their rights being taken away, instead of fighting for all gun owner rights. Now comes the panic buying and hoarding.

+1
Agreed sir. Very true.

FWIW
I wrote both of my Senators about the SS109/855 issue. (Please do the same)
The one with an R responded back assuring he'd do his best.
Yet to hear back from the one with a D.

Imagine that.

Not here in NYS it isn't, and- it's now a ONE-feature ban!

Sure as hell wasn't passed by a Republican....

VERY true- and I'm hoping Preet Bharara can shine some light on how and why
