I have a question for you guys. Didn't exactly didn't know where to put it, to get the quickest, response. Because I need answers relatively quick.

I just got a laydown gunsafe. Because of that, I don't want to have rifle to rifle contact. I usually put towels or blankets between the weapons.

And I also have some pistols to put in there. But since I'm short on towels and blankets I want to use soft cases. I have a few questions.

1.) Is it ok to put the guns in a soft case and then into the laydown safe?

2.) What lubricant/protectant can I put on the gun AND in the softcase w/o ruining the softcase or leaving a residue?

3.) I've tried WD40 AND Breakfree CLP and they both have rusted on me. What lubricant/protectant is best?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

I would think the less items that touch the gun, the better. Can you make some kind of wooden rack? Moisture would be trapped against the metal. That's a bad thing. I'm not sure what a laydown safe is but can you put a Goldenrod in it?

I have used soft cases for years without a problem. I do live in a dryer climate than most. For lubricants, I like 3in1 oil. For storage and outside use in inclimate weather coat the gun with a modern car polish like 2000 washes. You will be amazed at how well this works. Coat metal and wood inside and out. I would also polish the guns you put in towels and soft cases. It is a miricle treatment that doesn't cost aan arm and a leg. Hoppes will remove it if you wish.
