The two rifles I'm after are a M44 carbine and an SKS.

1. What is a fair price for these and on the SKS what should I be weary of if anything? I've heard some are better made than others...Yugoslavian??

2. Has anyone EVER seen an SVT-40 or a G-43 at any of these shows??
Although if I did see a G-43(My HOLY GRAIL) I would probably die of heart failure due to an overgiddyness attack...

I'm in colorado and have yet to see either of these(SVT & G-43) at any shows...

Friendly regards.

Yugoslavian SKSs are great provided you get one in good shape.

Chinese SKS can be very good, but not all are created equal. I suggest you read up on the different arsenals. A triangle with a 26 inside generally indicates one of the better Chinese SKSs.

I've seen some SVTs, but never a G43. Prices probably wont be reasonable.
M44 should be $100 or less, but prices have been kinda odd recently.

You'll probably encounter more Yugo SKS' these days than any other build .. seen prices around $250, but you probably can do better.

Around my area, figure on $850 and up for an SVT-40, depending on condition. Saw one for over $1100 two months ago. Saw a G-43 for something like $3,500 at the same show.

Saw a few M44s at $125 or so. Price can depend on the build (Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Chinese...)

I stopped collecting about 6 years ago. Just started again recently, and I'm reeling from the prices.
