Any other advice welcome also.:D

Would it be possible to rechamber a Ruger GP100 to .44 special? Can someone recomend a smith to do it?

There is a smith around that rechambers GP's. I'm sorry, but I don't remember who. I'm sure it will be posted here shortly. I know for sure they did 10mm rechambers. I am pretty sure they also did 44 specials.

No, you couldn't rechamber a .357 Magnum, GP-100 to .44 Special. Some pistolsmith have custom made revolvers by starting with a GP-100 and converting it to the larger cartridge by using a rebored barrel and 5-shot cylinder of their own manufacturer. Such conversions are exceeding expensive - as in over $1,000.00

Thanks Old Fluff. After a bit of searching, it seems that Clements Custom was the shop I was trying to remember. Although not listed on their site, it is said they offer several conversions for the GP including 10mm and 44 Special. One poster said he was quoted $500 for a 10mm conversion in April. http://www.clementscustomguns.com/
