I'd like to read up on gunsmithing to see if it's a hobby I could get into after I graduate. So, anybody have any recommendations? :D

Thanks,

David

Look for the name "Jerry Kuhnhausen." He wrote a whole mess of manuals on the common American guns. The books don't really give many tips on running a smithing business, but they'll give you a good idea of what's involved.

And if you happen to have a S&W revolver, a 1911, or a .30 cal service rifle, you'll find all kinds of useful information about your gun.

I'm looking into this as a hobby rather than a business. Are there any books that focus more on the concepts rather than the specifics of any particular model(s)?

There are a lot of great books. Check out Brownells to see some of them. Kuhnhausen's books are very informative. If you decide to pursue it, AGI's videos teach a lot about specific models and are invaluable.
