I am in the process of purchasing another handgun right now. Here are my two options and I was wondering which one you guys would recommend.
1) Astra A-80 like new
2)Star Firestar 9mm

Which one do you guys think I should go for.

thanks

For the price break you are talking about you wont go bad with either . If its a help my daughter carries a firestar 9mm as her ccw tho .

Firestar gets my vote. Mine has been a totally reliable firearm and was once my primary carry piece before I started exploring the combat tupperware.

Nothing wrong w/ the Firestar. It's a very stout, reliable weapon and very accurate for being a compact, carry locked-n-cocked, all steel construction too, (except for the hi-cap version that came out later, it had an alloy frame and poor ergonomics). I made the mistake of passing one up and have regretted it ever since. The only negative I've heard concerning the Firestars were on the .45 versions. The 9mm ( single stack 8shot)ones were great!

You should be aware that both the Star & Astra companies are long out of business, and parts will become impossible to get for either gun before much longer.

If it breaks, it's gonna be a problem getting either one of them fixed.

I would vote for the firestar lol I'm currently buying a firestar43 too let me know how you like yours if you would, I have researched there are still a lot of parts out there. the one potential weak spot I've seen discussed is the firing pin, a lot of places have em, and magazines. I researched a zillion sites checking them out, and have yet to find any complaints on the 9mm's the 40 and 45 yes, but not the firestar 43 most everyone loves em.
