Daughter and grandkids are visiting from Iowa, presented my granddaughter with her very own rifle; a crickett .22 single shot.
She's only 18 months so it'll be a while before grandpa can take her to the range but she seems to like it! (Her mom ain't real happy though :) )
Grandson is only two months old, going to get him one too. He went to the gunstore with me yesterday to pickup my new Taurus PT145. Not sure what he thought about the trip, he doesn't talk a lot.

Nice!

When our twin grandsons arrived six years ago, I bought two Chipmunks with the thought of all my grandkids having .22 rifles when they were ready.

Then the number of grandkids quickly blossomed to eight. I'm almost caught up. Let's see, three Chipmunks, two Stevens Favorites (I bought one last night) and a couple of old Springfield bolt action boys' rifles. Tyler will get the Chipmunk I bought for his dad back in 1985.

Half of my grandkids are girls, but all of them will get their own rifles and training from grandpa. :)

I prettied the Cricket up a little for her, sanded the stock down and put about a dozen coats of tung oil on it. Its got a nice deep shine now, lots better than the matte pink it came as.
When they do get old enough I have a special one for them: a High Standard Double Nine .22 revolver that belonged to my Dad. It's the first gun I shot as kid and was the first one either of my kids shot.
