wow i just went on the H&K website and their .45 is 875.. is this like top of the line guns? i heard it was a spectacular gun but i dont know.. i like the S&W .45 .. it just has a nicer look to it.. which one is better though?

I've got a full size H&K .40 S&W

I don't think it's any different in size from the H&K .45. It's the most accurate (to me) pistol I've shot so far. The 1911 is a classic, fits most hands like no other, and if one spends a little extra, its accuracy is unparalleled.

But, if you want those things, along with complete RELIABILITY out of the box, an H&K USP .45 might be the answer.
And by the way, I own two Kimber 1911's which are NOW completely reliable. One right out of the box, and the other AFTER two trips to the factory. I also owned a Rock Island Armory 1911 which was totally unreliable (I know, I know, SOME of then are good weapons, I got a lemon) from the start. I sold it (with full disclosure) for a loss.
My H&K has NEVER failed. EVER. About 5000 rds and going strong.

I am a noob,,, i was at the gun range the other day and there was an S&W .45... so in other words thats a 1911 right?? it was gorgeous for 900 i think i might get that one..

Really, better is in the eye of the beholder. Me, I love my HK's...I'd have more but there are only so many on the approved list in CA:scrutiny: Anyway, HK's have always been more expensive than alot of its competition...I tend to look at it (more like rationalize it) as being the price of membership :D For me, it's worth it. My USP 45 (that I paid $500 new) is my best shooting pistol PERIOD!
Good luck deciding

I have a S&W semi auto in 9mm. Compared to my USP9, the Smith got nothing on it. Sure I paid more for my USP9, but the HK has very excellent build quality, not to mention very accurate.

All four HK USP's I've bought have never had any failure whatsoever of any kind, nor they have ever been sent back to factory for any repair. They all have been 100% out of the box performers. I cannot say that for my nib S&W revolver or my Colt and SA 1911 that I bought new.

Better for what

looking at?

Some like blondes, others brunettes...

The HK is a fine service pistol. They are nicely made, but nothing special

Glock
SIG
Steyr
SW
HK
CZ
etc. etc.

Pick a flavor

I used to think the H&K's were outrageously priced for polymer guns. I traded a problem Kimber for a Stainless Steel .45 USPc. It has never malfunctioned. You can get almost any type of trigger option you want(I like Variant 1. You can choose cocked and locked or DA/SA). And the accuracy is outstanding. Plus it is built like a tank! Shooting it changed my mind about H&K's They may be expensive. But man can they shoot! And shoot, and shoot.......

I paid $679 a few years back for my H&K USP .45 (New) at a Gun show from a local dealer. They've gone up a bit.

The good: VERY Accurate, Decent recoil, Super super SUPER reliable, decent accessories, 12 round mags are becoming avail, Bragging rights :) NOBODY disses the H&K. Some may say it's too spensive, but that's about as far as they go. Even the most die hard Glock Lover has to gudgingly admit that you purchased a fine tool.

The Bad: It;s a little thick to carry concealed, It's expensive, and the factory mags aren't cheap.
