Between this and the G36 reportedly finding a way over here, could we be seeing the early stages of H&K serving the civilian market in this country? (OK, they do for pistols already, which this will be, but you know what I mean :D)

The HK57 is a mere pistol, which is how I could see it getting past our dumb semi auto rifle rules (H&K's fancy specs take care of the dumb pistol import rules :D). No single stack or anything ;)

"I like my arms and legs"

Because the gun is unsafe, or because it's so ineffective you'd lose both regardless? FWIW, the UCP service pistol was cancelled shortly after H&K's foot-stomping kept the 5.7x28 from being adopted by NATO.

Personally, I'm impressed H&K is claiming a 1800$ price point, given both how rare the guns are, and the fact that it is basically a miniaturized G36 action. The krauts could probably ask whatever they wanted and sell a boat-load to gamers (just gotta time the release with whenever Half Life 3 comes out :D)

How ever much that thing costs (and we know HK will charge a lot for it), include the cost of a tax stamp and stock, because you know you'll HAVE to SBR it!

Because he doesn't want to give an arm and a leg to pay for it. I don't either. Cool that new guns are coming (I'm always happy to see that), but it's certainly not one I'll ever get either

Sorry, I was referring to the phrase "it cost a arm and a leg". Being that HK's tend to cost a little bit more and people will be all over them driving the price up I.e. some Glock 42s listing for over $600 on gunbroker.
It's still a cool pistol though.

"Ah, I see" said the blind man. I may also not be seeing this is a Fools' Day joke, though it seems way too intense and thorough to actually be one. HK is introducing the G36 so it stands to reason other "military" models will follow, the story broke two days ago, and the selector artwork and loaded magazine details seem like too much trouble for a troll. People are still claiming they can see an Airsoft winding wheel on the mag, though I could attribute an extra AS mag in the photo op to the stupid things costing 100$ --each. I would certainly 'pad' my photos with cheaper knockoffs, even if the real-deal were present :D

More than a little when it comes to their gas-op platforms ;)

Joke photo-shop or no, I fully expect a 'pistol' MP7 to be just as big a pain to 'stock-ify' as an SL8, with plastic welding and stuff.

I would pass on this one due to the price point, new cartridge (availability and cost considered as well), and prohibitive cost of magazines and accessories. Other than that it's another large pistol that I really don't have any use for.

Honestly someone needs to show them FN 5,7 so they can appreciate how useful modern handgun looks like. It's getting harder and harder to pick one of their products over something from FNH.

Between the round it's chambered in, the price point, the added effort to sbr it (and if you don't really what is the point?), I'm not terribly interested. With Leo discount I can get a PS90 and SBR it for less if I just have to have an odd ball caliber PDW. That said I support HK offering more of their goodies to the civilian US market, even if they are cost prohibitive for many.

Not to worry, I have an idea I'm working on...

-Yes, it's a gas op locked breech
-Yes, that's 5.7x28
-Yes, that's a 50-rnd PS90-style mag instead of a goofy donkey-, er...stick magazine
-Yes, that's an airsoft shell
-Yes, that's a 16" barrel (so not technically a pistol)
-No, it doesn't operate like anything you've seen unless you own a Madsen LMG

I'm pretty sure I couldn't manufacture these even if I wanted; I imagine the only think H&K hates worse than suing Well for ripping off their MP7 image would be some punk turning said image into a directly-competing product . I suppose ya'll will be out of luck, but I'll have mine, at least :neener:.
