I'm of to the point of buying a used H&K P9s 9mm.
Does anyone have any experiance with this pistol?
Accuracy? known flaws? durability?

I owned one several years back.

Very, very accurate.

Flaws - just that the buffer tends to turn to goop over time - make sure you can source new ones. Otherwise, the roller lock system should last you forever...

Nice piece...a bit chunky for a single stack, but very kewl nonetheless...

Years ago I had P9S in .45. Very nice pistol but I had trouble reaching the trigger comfortably and consistently in double action mode. In single action the trigger was great; a rather light and even break to it. The gun itself was very accurate and very reliable. The roller locking system is quite unique and seems to help reduce some of the felt recoil. I also agree with varoadking in that it's a bit large for a single stack 9mm., but it's still a very well designed and built semi-auto.

Desirable gun for HK lovers, especially. Manual of arms takes a little practice. I have experience with the .45 and it is the softest shooting, most accurate pistol I have ever fired. Folks at Hkpro.com really love 'em. There is a combat and a target version iirc. It is important to replace the buffer when you get ownership of the gun. This is even more important for the .45 they say. The buffers can be found at hk-usa and at numrich. I got them for five bucks from HK. If you need instructions for changing out the buffer, let me know. I believe I have them. It has been my experience that it can be sold easily if you decide you don't like it. Good luck. It a gun like no other.

Have one in 9mm and another in 45ACP. VERY accuarte and they have fantastic trigger feel to them. Might not be flashy and visually refined by today's standards, but they're still one of the best models out there. Extra buffers are quite affordable from Midway or Brownells usually.

I bought one a while ago ($273) and loved it. Best trigger I have ever seen on a stock gun and also has a very nice thick barrel. All of which make the HK very accurate.

However factory mags are prohibitively expensive when you can even find them. So I decided to give it up seeing as how with my one mag it would never be anything but a safe queen ( and I don't fancy safe queens anymore).

The one I had was very accurate, but someone offered me almost twice what I paid for it and that was too tempting...plus I really wanted one in .45ACP

the only weakness I've ever heard about were the buffers (buy extras when you can) and the long reach to the trigger in DA.

I liked all the unique features in one gun
1. polygonal barrel
2. roller delayed action
3. polymer interface...it was a forerunner of the first polymer framed handgun, the H&K VP-70...the grip and trigger guard were polymer enclosing a metal skeleton
4. ability to carry DA/SA or Condition 1 (cocked and locked)
5. ability to cock the hammer with the de-cocking lever on the draw (if you thumb was long enough)

Thanks for all the info.
Went to the range and fired the gun last thursday.
I believe it is a 1969 gun, but almost it looks like new. It shoots wonderful. My 10 shot groups are about half those I shoot with my USP, same as those with the USP match 45. The balance of the gun is much better then any polymer gun I fired so far and it just points naturally. Very nice trigger, very light recoil. I bought it and now the paperwork get's started (can take up to 4 months around here).
As soon as i take possession, i'l post a full range report with pictures.

I've had the 45 and 9mm for years.

My problem is with HK.

A couple years ago I needed a couple parts for the 9mm. I called HK. They said they had the parts but would not sell them to me. I had to order them from a "authorized HK dealer". Trouble is the only HK dealer around said he won't order from HK because "they are a big pain in the *** and it can take months to get a part, if you ever get it".

So the 9mm P9S in in the gun parts junk box and I wouldn't own another HK on a bet.
