I just had a quick question...A friend of mine told me it was illegal for civilians to own a HK gun....it was only for military or law enforcement. I just wanted to know if that was true cause i was looking and them online and I really like them

Nope there are plenty of them out there.

Tell your friend to do some reading.

Here is one of mine from a bit back.

If you get one made before 86 and jump through the NFA hoops you can even have the fun select fire versions. For a hefty price, but even then there are quite a few H&K subguns and assault rifles in civilian hands.

H&K might want it that way, but it's not illegal. There would be no credible laws to enforce it, anyway. If the military or police can have it, and it's not covered under the NFA, so can you.

I won't buy one because of that reason and that there are better guns for far less money, but they're still very respectable pieces.

s7eventh;

I'm a civilian and I legally own an H&K USP semi-automatic pistol. Anybody who wants to pay the price can do so as far as I know. At least if you don't live in NYC or some other weird alternate reality.

As for some of the peanut gallery comments about price, well I certainly thought it was worth it, and have thought so for well into the second decade of ownership. Which is not to say that all who visit this site are as handsome/beautiful and discerning as us H&K owners. :neener:

Your friend is dead wrong. I've owned a number of HK pistols and know plenty of other people who own them as well.

Perhaps you should ask him to cite the law that prohibits citizens from owning HK pistols.

count down for the inevitable "because you suck and we hate you" jokes to start flying.

on topic: he couldent be more worng. a hk usp 40 lived in my safe for 3 months before i sold it.

Well, there it is. The peanut gallery is alive and well and saving the glocks for inhumanity.

I have several H&K pistols I'd be willing to sell him because they don't work well with my hands.

I bought them during my "I must have every model from every manufacturer" stage...so now I have a bunch of HKs with not a chance in the world of them being outside of the safe.

I'll make him a good deal :)!

Actually guys there is a secret executive order making it illegal to own HKs. For years the ATF has been allowing civilians to buy them as part of a huge sting operation. Soon they are going to spring the trap and arrest all of you. At least that's what I heard on the interwebs.:neener:

In all fairness, though, the "you suck and we hate you" rant is possibly one of the funniest rants I've ever read. It's a legend. And how can you argue against fame?

I purchased a HK usp 9mm last year from a pawn shop. Came with book, case, and 2- 10 round clips. The book said it took 15 rd clips but some States ban the 15,s

Maybe it's a California thing. Has the land of fruits and nuts received the proper extortion fee from HK to add the .45 USP to their approved firearms list?

Fella's;

I'm reminded of my children when they were small. At some time the toys need to be put away & the kids have to go to bed.

It's funny, H&K has always acted like an adult corporation with me. Requests, work, and parts: Questions were answered quickly and fully, work was done on time & at quoted cost, & parts were supplied to the same standard.

And no, other than as a consumer I have no relationship with H&K, it's affiliates, or advertising agencies.
